M. STEVENSON WASHING MACHINE 2 sheets-sheet 2 Filed Apr.
ATTORNEY WITNESS:
- p'osite the slot 3Q is a headed turnable memlower portion which is substantially triangular in cross section, and tothe sides of this triangular portion is secured a plurality of spaced outwardly extending dasher arms 34. The shaft is mounted in suitable hearings in thelupper and straight portion of the bracket or standard and has secured thereon a toothed wheel 35. Journaled on the said upr portion of the bracket or standard is a short shaft 36 on one end of which is secured a comparatively large wheel 37, the same having peripheral equally spaced depressions or openings 38 to engage with the teeth of the wheel 37. It is, of course, obvious that two beveled wheels may be employed if desired. On the larger wheel is an operating handle 39.
By partly removing the standard or bracket the sectional cover may be removed fromthe top of the device, the said cover, as heretofore inferred, being effectively clamped by the bracket andcby the turntable member 32 on the top of the body. Then the cover is removed the standard and the shaft and dasher carried thereby may be entirely removed from the body, and it is thought, from the foregoing description, when taken inconnection with the drawings, that the construction and advantages of the improvement will be apparent. It should be stated, however, that if desired the operating wheel may have arranged thereon a pulley that may receive the belt of a suitable motor an opening and also having a slot spaced from said opening, a turn button connected to the top plate and arranged atthe opposite side of the opening to said slot, headed turnable members connected to the top plate and arranged at opposite sides ofsaid o'pening, a removable closure for-said opening and having a central shaft-receiving opening, a shaft extending through said central opening, and a bracket receiving and supporting said shaft and having a leg with a horizontal portion to rest partly on the top and partly on the closure and terminating in a pendent portion to rest in the top slot and also having legs with slotted horizontal portions to rest partly on the top and partly on the closure and receive-and be detachably secured by the said turnable members.
2. The combination of a top plate having an opening, closure means removably ar- In testimon whereof I affix nljv slilgnature. MAR ARETTA STE E SUN.
