Ivvhich the following description, in connection with the accompanying drawings, is a spccicaticn, like `characters on the dran`- inns indicatinrry like parts in the several invention, relates to grinding machines and herein shown as embodied in a machine for lgrinding or sharpening; the teetl'i oit `rotary cutters such as are used, tor example, for trimming* the edges of boot and shoe soles.

Although the invention has been. shoivn as embodied in a machine for grinding` the teeth of rotary cutters, it is Within the province of the invention to grind any object Where the grindingpressure should be limited to al predetermined amount. Furthermore, the invention is in no Way limited to the use of the radial face oft the `Wheel.

@rdinarily the operator presses the cutting face of a tooth to the grinding wheel,
using his judgment and skill as to the amount of pressure which should `be exerted. lt is ditlicult to present all the teeth of the grinder with the same pressure, and an unskilled operator is especially likely to press some of the teeth too hard or toolong against the Wheel. This is likely to burn or over grind the teeth` and consequently destroy their temper and vary theirlength.
