siding at Dresden7 tierinauy, have inrentcd certain neuY and useful Improvements in hiatchcs. oif "which the following: cation.
rlhis invention relates to matches particularly those having` a stein made trom paper. ,in order to 'facilitate the match when1 the same is being lighted a paper strip is arranged at thc side ol'v the head. T"'Vhcn the match is being lighted this paper strip catches lire and conducts the lire to the stem ot the match. The paper strip called 1Lhe ignitingj beird*can be added to the paper match as a separate part or. which is simpler, the igniting beard can be made in one piece with the paper match which is simply slit at the end of the head so that the priming` head With the priming composition is situated at the one si de et the gap Yformed by the incision,r the igniting beard being situated at the other side ot said gap. The ignition beard is thus'as close as possible to the priming;l cap whereby a certain ignition is secured. The manufacturing is very simple as only an incision is required `for producing; the igniting beard.
Accor. rg to this invention the paper strip is saturated or coated with in flammable or coiui'uistible material such as parathne or the like behind the priming head and behind the igniting beard so that. a small interval exists between the inammable ma ter il and the priming' cup whereby tho ignition is Yfacilitated as the part tree from paraiiine or the like easily ignited by the priming cup and by the ioniting beard. The paraine or `other combustible used, burns betore the stem. the stem acting as a sort ot a Wick. and thus the flame lasts for a longer period than it the match Were not coated.
In order that the invention may be clearly understood shall proceed to describe the same with reference to the two forms ot construction shown by Way of example by the accompanying drawing wherein Fig. 1 shows a paper match of one form of construction and ignition ot such- Fig. 2 -a paper match ot the other ot construction.
The match oli paper as shown by Figures l and 2 has a paper strip c at 'the side ot the .priming head 7?. This paper strip c serres as igniting beard. l n the two torms ol conshown by way of example `the forni struction strip c is made in one piece with the stem. As shown by Fig. 2 the ioniting heard c is separated trom thc priming head merely by an incision, .llt somo distance behind` so that an interval is 'iormed, a strip f/ oi paraffine or the like is provided, This strip (Z is produced by coating or saturatiuo with paraline this part oit the paper match a. The incision separates the end of the match a into two approximately equal parts. This presents the advantage that when the matches are connected at the lower ends in a strip and the strip is folded so that the matches are placed upon one another au igniting beard c is always placed upon a ilariminghead 7), trfo priming heads never being placed the one upon the other. Any danger oli selt-ignition by the rubbing together of the priming heads is thus prevented. Furthermore the packet ot toldcd up matclrstiips is quite thin and compact.
The matches are preferably made in a comb or strip or paper ot the usual form and the strip is preferably folded as above set forth or cut to suitable lengths.
l. claim l. A match haring` a priminghead and an igniting beard at one end, the igniting; beard .being separated trom the priming; head by an incision and being disposed adjacent the priming` head.
2. .fr match having a priming head and an igniting beard at one end, the igniting beard being separated trom the priming head by an incision and being disposed adjacent the priming head. and a band of combustible material on the match at a distance from the priming head and igniting beard.
In testimony whereof I aiX my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
