POCKET MATCH SAFE.
Application filed May 26,
To all "IOZLOIII/ it may concern.
Be it known that I. hlixn'rin Mansnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Casmalia, in the county of Santa Barbara and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Pocket Match Safes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention is a container for matches and the like which is so constructed as to be readily attachable to a tobacco can, or the like, in order that the match sate may be conveniently carried in the pocket with the tobacco can.
The invention will be readily understood from the following description of the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective showing a to bacco can with the improved match safe attached thereto.
Fig. 2 is a detail section on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1.
The improved match safe is adapted to be=mounted upon the lid of a usual tobacco can shown at 1 as provided with a. usual hinged lid 2.
The match safe may be of any suitable construction andfpret'erably conforms to the shape of the lid of the tobacco can. In the present instance the match sate is shown as a receptacle having aqhinged cover prei erably held in closed position by spring catch The upper surface of cover at may be provided with the usual striking sur face. (3.
In order to readily attach the match safe to the lid of the tobacco can, a tapering screw 8 depends from the base of receptacle 3, and said screw is employed for puncturing the lid '2 of the tobacco can in order to mount the match safe upon the latter. After screw 8 has been projected through the lid 1921. Serial No. 472,729.
of the tobacco can, a usual wing nut or the like, as shown'a-t 9, is threaded onto the screw for retaining the match safe in position 7 It will be noted that the construction, as thus described, provides a convenient match safe which will always be handy to the tobacco can,and that the safe is so constructed as to be readily mounted upon a tobacco can and as readily detached therefrom when the tobacco can is empty and thrown away. I have thus provided an extremely cheap but convenient accessory for tobacco users which will insure the provision of matches with tobacco at all times.
Various changes may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.
I Vhat is claimed is: i
1. A container for matches having a. penetrating member, and a. retaining member removably mounted onthe first member.
2. The combination with a receptacle, of a container for matches and the like having a tapering screw adapted to puncture the receptacle and have a nut received thereon for detachably mounting the container upon the receptacle.
3. The combination with a tobacco can having a hinged lid, of a container for matches and the like having atapering depending screw adapted to puncture the lid ol? the tobacco can and having a not received 75 thereon for detachably mounting the container upon the tobacco can.
4L. A container for matches and the like having a projecting tapering screw, and a retaining nut adapted to be received thereon. 80
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
