HENRY L. MENDAL, BALTHI E'QF COOKER.
Application filed. July 28,
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, HENRY L B. citizen of the United States, residing at timore, in the city of Baltimore and State of Maryland, have invented certain new d usetl'ul Improvements in a Cooker; and hereby declare the following to be a :tull clear, and exact description of the invention. such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to a kitchen utensil of the type for preparing food and consists of a cooker to be placed upon any kind o'l' stove preferably a gas or oil store which is readily accessible and utilizes the heat to the best possible advantage.
@ther objects and advantages will be apparent and suggest themselves as the nature of the invention is understood.
While the drawing illustrates an embodiment of the invention it is to be understood that in adapting the same to meet diiterent conditions and requirements, various changes in the form, proportion and minor details 01": construction may be resorted to without departing from the nature of the invention.
Referring to the accompanying (rawing forming a part of the specification.
Figure 1 is an elevation of a cooker embodying the invention showing the same mounted upon a gas stove and provided with a jacket.
Figure 2 is a sectional detail of the cooker. the jacket being omitted.
Figure 3 is a horizontal section parts being broken away.
Figure & is a top plan View of the supporting frame, and
Figure 5 is a fragmentary View of the top portion of the drum showing more particularly the damper.
Corresponding and like parts are referred. to in the following description and designated in the several views of the drawing by like reference characters.
The cooker comprises a drum 1 which is Open at the bottom andclosed at the top, the latter being provided with a centrally disposed damper 2 which is operable .by means of a handle 3 projecting through a slot in the side of the drum. Openings are formed in opposite sides of the drum which are closed by doors 4: and 5 which are hinged to swing in opposite directions. The drum 1 is provided with handles 1.

supporting frame is disposed in.
"r 1 and comprises u rights and a cross g provided with r opening for escape or hot and vapor. The up t consi t oi ph;
'ch i are their vertical edge portions outwardly deflected indicated 8 so as to make contact with the inner wall of the drum and the inner sideo't the doors as indicated most clearly in Figure 3. in the preferable construction the uprights 6 and or. piece '7 may consist oi a single ip of sh. metal having opposite end port-ions bent in.

parts. This supporting hame may be secured to the drum 1 in any red war.
a. grate 9 is located within the lower pol tion of the drum and supports a vbed 10 which preferably consists of soap stone of suitable thickness and perforated to provide for the p ssage of the heat. The bed 10 is preferably of sectional formation, the sections being of like formation and of semicircular form. The bed 10 acts as deflector to uniformly distribute the heat and prevent burning of the food in the process of cooking.
The supporting frame is designed to receive a receptacle containing the food to be cooked. its shown m st clearly in Figure 3 the receptacles Ill. are of semi-cylindrical form so that each may receive a ditlerent article "food and when placed together economize space. Either receptacle 11 may be removed or placed in position without disturbing the other because of the oppositely disposed doors l: and 5. These doors when swung into open position entirely expose the supporting frame and admit of the receptac-les 11 eing easily placed in position or removed as required. A jacket 12 preferably encloses the drum 1 and serves to conline the heat. The handle 3 of the damper 2 projects through the slot in the side of the jacket 12 near the top thereof as indicated most clearly in Figure 1. The acket 12 is provided at opposite points with handles il in position since they give flareto the space provided for the reception of the re ceptacles 11. v
Having thus described the invention, hat I claim is l. A cooker comprising a drum, a supporting frame Within the drum comprising an upper crosspiece. and integral uprights the latter having their vertical edge portions outwardly deflected and} touching the inner Wall of the drum to tori-n opposite vertical channels.
cooker comprising a drun having a centrally disposed damper in its top and a supporting frame Within the drum comprising an upper crosspiece vhaving an opening in. regiser with the dau'iper in the top of the drum, and integral uprights, the latter having their vertical edge portions outva-rdly deflected and in Contact with the inner side of the drum to form opposed {vertical channels.
3. cooker comprising drumvopen at the bottom and closed at the top. and having a centrally disposed damper in the drum, 11 supporting frame Within the drum comprisand a, connecting cross piece, the drumhaving openings in opposite sides closed by means doors a grate, at the lowerportion of the supporting frame, ajperforated bed of refractory material such as soap stone mounted upon the grateandajacket enclosing the drum and having door controlled openings in its side opposite the doors of the drum.
In. testimony whereof I affix my signa ture in presence oftwonvvitnesses.
