closed in my application aforesaid, as well as'other similar types of engines; to provide a construction wherein the head or upper portion of the cylinder is formed in a separate piece, thereby greatly facilitating and decreasing the cost of production of the en glue and at the same time providing a construction that may be easily and quickly assembled and likewise easily and quickly removed for the purpose of repairs or ad 'justment of parts. 7
The type of engine to which my invention relates utilizes a sleeve valve and a piston valve for controlling the admission ofygaseous fuel into the combustion chamber and for controlling the egress of burnt gases and products of combustion from said combustion chamber, and, necessarily, these valves are separated by an annular wall or partition.
-It is one of the objects of my invention to provide a construction wherein this annular wall is formed integral with the removable headpiece, thereby permitting the valve cylinder to be readily bored and finished and likewise enabling the surfaces of the sleeve valve, the piston valve and the stationary wall or partition between them to be readily machined and finished, thereby providing a very accurate construction that is effective in minimizing leakage of fluid pressure. Referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings, which illustrate a practical embodiment of myinvention, 10 designates the crank case of the engine, 11 the crank shaft, 12 the cylinder block in which are formed a power piston chamber 13 and a valve chamber 14:, said chambers being arranged side by side and of uniform diameter throughout their lengths, thereby enabling the boring and finishing operations to be readily performed.

Further,- by providing a removabld hoad, it is possible to'easi-ly andquiehly: gain ac cess to the sleeve and piston valves inuthe' ber, of a removable head positioned on'top of the cylinder block and provided with a chamber for one of said valves, and an annular wall formed integral with said head which annular wall extends downwardly into the valve chamber between the valves therein.
2. The combination with an internal combustion engine cylinder block having a valve chamber the diameter of which is uniform throughout its length, of a head reinovably applied to the top of the block for closing the valve chamber therein, said head being provided with a valve chamber that is concentrically disposed with respect to the valve chamber in the cylinderblock, an annular wall extending from the underside of said head into the upper portion of the valve chamber in the cylinder block, the external diameter of said annular wall being uniform throughout its length and the internal diameter of said wall corresponding with the internal diameter of the valve chamber in said head, so that the internal diameter of the valve chamber in the head and the opening through said annular wall is uniform throughout the length of the combined chambers, and a concentric shoulder on the underside of said head, which shoulder is adapted to fit snugly within the upper end of the valve chamber in the cylinder block.
3. The combination with an internal combustion engine cylinder block having a piston chamber and a valve chamber, of a head removably positioned on top of said cylinder block and having a portion disposed within the upper end oi the valve chamber, there being a valve chamber formed in said head and a concentrically arranged wall extending from the underside of said head downwardly into the valve chamber in the cylinder block, and the chamber within said annular wall being a continuation of the valve chamber in the head.
