Each clamp l is detachably supported in a small fork which is pivotally mounted on the upper end of the rotatable upright shaft C. An oblique rising and falling movement is imparted to the jaws of the clamps during their rotation so as to permit of the clamps passing each other during such rotation. This oblique rising and fall ing movement is obtained by means of a cam and roller device, the roller Q; being carried by the clamp fork P, and the cam R being of an annular form and adjustably supported around a stationary ring S. Or the cam B; may be flat, one clamp passing the other at a different level.
Each clamp K is preferably fitted with a self-locking device at its heel end, this device comprising for example a weighted cam lever T pivoted on one side and engaging with a small roller '1" on the opposite side.

l he apparatus as previously stated is designed to effect mechanically the various turning, shapin stretching, and finishing operations appertaining to the production of garments. For example, in' turning-up trousers bottoms (Figs. 7 and 8) the trousers leg V, supported on the table U, is gripped at the bottom on opposite sides by the two clamps K (see Fig. 7), the gauges Q being first set to the required depth of turn-up, and the upright shafts C with the clamps K are then simultaneously rotated in opposite directions, until on completion of a semicircular movement the clamps K' occupy the position shown in Fig. 8, forming the turnup W at the bottom of the trousers leg V, which turn-up is pressed before opening the clamps, thereby dispensing with the necessity for basting. For turning-in coat sleeve linings (Figs. 9 and 10), the appropriate clamps K are substituted and the cloth of the sleeve X is pushed in folds into the bows of the clamps (see Fig. 9), the sleeve lining Y resting on the table U; the upright shafts C with the clamps K are then simultaneously rotated in opposite directions, until on completion of a semi-circular movement the clamps occupy the position shown in Fig.
10, with the sleeve lining turned in, and the sleeve bottom Z in position for pressing be fore opening the clamps. For turning-out coats (Figs. 11 and 12), the appropriate clamps K having forked and shaped ends 1 for the collar are substituted and the coat is pushed in folds on to the clamps, with the arms 2 of the clamps between the cloth and the lining (see Figpll) the clamps K are then rotated, until on reaching the position shown in Figure 12 the coat is turned out with the collar 3 in position for pressing be fore opening the clamps. In each of these cases the spreader lingers. N hold the cloth clear of the clamps K as they pass through the opening. F or shaping and stretching coats for pressing (Figs. 13 and l l),a shaped block at is substituted for the table U to support the garment 5, which is gripped by the clamps K in front at points corresponding to the lower limits of the lapels to be formed; the upright shafts C with the clamps K are then adjusted by means of the screw G to stretch the garment upon the block l, after which the lapels and collar are turned baclt against a loose gauge plate 6, in which position they held for pressing before opening the clamps.
I claim:
1. In a garment shaping and finishing machine, a pair of-adjustably spaced upright shafts provided at their upper ends with adjustable and detachable pairs of clamps formed with removable jaws, and means for rotating said shafts separately and simultaneously in a required direction.
2. In a garment shaping and finishing machine as claimed in claim 1, cam and roller mechanism for moving said clamps upwards.
