clare the followingtobe a'full, clear, and
exact description of the invention, such will enable others skilled in the art towhich it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to nail sets and has for its object to provide a nail set comprising a body member adapted to be held between the fingers and provided with radi ally disposed nail sets of different sizes, thereby obviating the necessity of the use, by a carpenter, of separate nail sets for each size. Also to provide hammer engaging lugs carried by the body member and diametrically disposed in relation to the nail sets.
A further object is to provide the ends of the nail set with concaviti-es so as to prevent the nail set from coming out of engageinent withithe nail and consequently marriug the wood Work adjacent the nail.
A further object is to provide a nail set provided with a plurality of nail set members of various sizes so that the operator may set nails of variol'is sizes without entirely changing from the use of one tool to a different tool. Also to provide finger engaging depressions in the sidesof the body member so that said body member may be easily held in the fingers and, also easily and quickly rotated to shift from a nail set of one sizeto a nail set of a d-iiferent size.
With the above'and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawings described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made withinthe scope of departing from In the drawings Figure 1 is a perspective view of the nailv set showing the same in the position it is held when in use.
Figure 2 is a front elevatio set. I i a Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 2.

end' of one of the cayity in engagement with a nail- Referring to the drawings, the numeral 1 desi hates the body member of the'nail set, bot-i inner is preferzitbiy round, the opposite sides of said body member being provided with knurled depressions 2, which are adapted to be engaged by the fingers so that the nail set may be held in position for use as clearly shown in Figure 1. Extending radiallyfrom the body member 1 are nail set pro ections which projections are of different sizes and adapted to be used for diilerent sizes of nails. The ends of the nail set projections. are provided with depressions 4, which are adapted to receive nail heads 5 so as to prevent slipping of the nail set projection out of engagement with the head 5 during a nail setting operation. Disposed on the outer periphery of the body member 1 and diametrically disposed points to the nail setting projections are hammer engaging lugs 6, which lugs are adapted to be engaged by the hammer poll 7, during a nail setting operation.
If so desired. the depression 4; may be and the ends of the nail setting projection may be flat or any other de-j sired shape, or if so desired the body member 1 may have one of the projections 3 in the form. of a centerpunch. i
'VVhen in use the device is held between the thumb and forefinger as shown in Figand the desired nail setting projection 3 in engagement with the nail being set. Where nails of different sizes are be ing set, it will be seen that it will only be necessary for the operator to shift to .a vertical position the nail setting projection which it is desiredto use. By providing all of the nail on asingle device, the common practice of having several nail sets is obviated, consequently the operator when he desires to use his nail set does not have to hunt around for the particular set be desires to use. l Vhere separatenail sets are used, it has been found that the same benail sets showingits' conengaging depressions, the axes of said hammer engaging members and of corresponding nail setting members being in axial alignment and in alignment with the center of the finger engaging depressions, said hammerv engaging members and nail setting projections being alternately arranged "In testimony whereof I have signed my The invention having been set forth what is claimed asnew and useful is A nail set comprising a disc shapedbody member, said body memberhaving its 0p- 5 posite sides provided with registering finger engaging depressions. radially dis-posed nall setting projections carried by the edge of the body member and radially disposed in relation to the finger engaging depresname to this specification in the presence sions in the body inember hammer engagof twosubscrib'ing witnesses.
