My invention relates to new and useful improvements in holders or supports, and has for its object to provide an exceedingly simple and effective device of this character which may be formed from a single piece of wire so coiled and bent or fashioned to provide a stake clamp and holding ring a loop and hook engaging said loop to hold the ring in a closed position.

Another object of the invention is to provide a support the ring of which is provided with a number of stake loops in addition to the other elements above mentioned.

A further object of the invention is to provide a stake clamp for supports ofthe character herein referred to coniiprising two spaced coils arranged at diverging; angles to each other and joined together by a wire strand having sufficient resiliency to act as a spring to cause the .coils to bind upon the stake on which they are mounted thereby producing suilicient friction to hold the clamp in its adjusted position.

With these ends in view, this invention consists in the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claim.

In order that those skilled in the art to this invention appertains, may understand how to make and use the same, I will describe its construction in detail, referring by numerals to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this application, in which I Fig. 1, is a side elevation of my improved holder or support showing it applied to a section of a stake.

in carrying out my invention embodied in Figs. ii to inclusive, Q represents the holder or support comprising a ring 3 which may he of any desirable size and in the strand or wire forming this ring is produced a fastening loop adapte to be engaged by a hook 5 formed from the free end of the ring andwhen said hook is in engagement with said fastening loop the ring will be maintained in its closed position as shown in Fig. 3. To the rear of the fastening loop is formed the upper coil 6 oi the stake clamp and which is of sufficient diameter to freely slip over a stake 7 with which the holder or support is to be used; from the upper coil 6 projects the strand or connecting member 8 from which is formed the lower coil 9 of the stake clamp and these

6 and 9 are arranged at angles opposite to each other as shown in Fig. 2 so that when placed upon a stake of the proper size they will bind upon the same and maintain the support or holder in any desired adjusted position, yet with very little efiort said holder or support may be moved up or down upon a stake or entirely removed therefrom as occasion requires.

In Fig. 4, I have shown a slightly modified form of hook engaging means or complementary fastening means 4 in the form of an indent or approximate semi-circle formed from the section. of wire producing the In Fig. 5, l have shown the ring of the holder or support provided with a plurality of stake loops 10. which are of sutiicient di-. ameter to freely pass over the additional stakes 11, which, with the holder supporting stake 7 from an enclosure for a plant, said loops preventing said stakes from being forced apart. These loops are spaced apart about thering and are produced from the same section of wire which forms the ring and in all other respects the construction is identical with the form of device illustrated inFig. 1.

This device is particularly adapted to use as a plant holder or trellis fOl lHtllltitlIllIlg vthe plant in an upright position-and cofining the same, but it Will be readily understood that the invention is also applicable as a support or hanger for. clothing and for articles to be exhibited.

Of course I do not wish to be limited to spaced relation, a plant ring projecting from one of said coils, a hook formed fronithe free end of said ring, a complementary fastening member with which said hook coacts, and a plurality of stake loops formed at different points aboutsaid ring.
