the county of Multnomah and State of Oregon, have invented a new and useful Portable Saw Track, of which the following` is a specification.
My invention relates to devices for supporting portable power saws used 'for cutting logs lying on the ground and the object is to provide a light, portable, sectional track-'frame for such saws, the construction being' such that the power saw is easily and rapidly moved from one cut of the log to the next.

Referring' to the drawing' hy reference numerals the preferred form ot my device consists of a iec-tangi'ular sectional frame of pipe eonstrution with. two parallel rails 9, 10 normally in `position parallel to the log' to be cut, said rails mounted on and connected with transverse iframe bars as 1 1, 12 and 13 the upper ends oi which extend beyond bars 9 and rest on a log' 14. to he out and the lower ends with their connections resting' on the ground or blocked up as at 15 slightly above the ground on a common level.

The portable power sawsv particularly adapted tor my device are barrow frame type having mountedbetween the frame `bars 19, a fly wheel 21, drive sprocket 22, link' belt 23, a large sprocket 211 on agsbaft25 and driven by link helt 23, the outer end of shaft 25 having a crank 26 which in kturn operates the saw 27 by means of a connecting rod 28. On the latter type I remove said wheel, or it can be left on it not too large, and a special oilset bracketBO is bolted to members 19 by the shaft bolt 29a,-and haswiln'gs 29b bearing upon the fraine`A at one end,v` and the other end of the bracketl is provided with a pin 31 which serves as an axle for `the `grooved wheel 17 which rolls on `rail 10 of the iraine.
The upper end portionsot frame members 11,12 and 13 are separateA pipes 11a, 12a and 13, both sets'of pipes connected in pipe crossesl 32,l andthe rear ends of said: inem` bers'are threaded into angle Ts 33 (see Fig. 2). At the outer end of each pipe barlll, 12, and 13a 1 provide a collar 46 with a slot 4T adapted to guide the pointed arm 48 of a hook pivoted at 49 between ears of a collar 50 secured on the pipe 11a, 12a or 13a. TWhen the trame is placed on the log` it is securely held against slipping by driving the pointed ends 48 into the log.
The clips 18 on power saw frame have each an. L-shaped member 51 pivoted as at 52 and so located that whenthe saw is in position it is locked there by said member 51 acting as a hook engaging the pipe rail 9; the slanting surface 52X ot the lower arm of the hook being such as to draw the parts together; As a further precaution l also provide a swinging arm 53 at the lower end of one of the power saw frame members 19, pivoted to thelatter as at 54 and its lower .end formed to straddle the trame bar 11,
12 or 13 according to location of saw frame.
1t will be readily understood that in malring my port-able track the pipe Ts 36 and have an outside diameter corresponding to lthe outside diameters of the adjacent rail pipes 9 and '10 respectively, thus making continuous rails of even size. i l
The device is used inthe following manner: i
After first placing the track section including rails 9, 10, 11 and 12 inposition onfa log, the. power saw frame is placed approximately as shown dotted in F ig. 1, so that' the sawwill make a cut just outside 'l y ofthe frame bar 11 in lFig. 2.' Then locking 'bar 53 o n Jiframe oit the power saw is swung into locking position on bar -11, and
kupper locking arm 51is clamped lover rail pipe 9 locking the sawing outfit in position. The turn buckle is manipulated to stiifen the iframe. Then the cut is made in the log and after completing the cut, the locking members `53 and 51 are released, saw is raised, the operator raises upper end oi, power saw frame in a similar manner to handling` a wheel barrow and rolls the sawing outt over onto next frame section 9,10, 12v and 13 and engages the locking members 5.3 with the pipe 12 and the locking arm-51 with the rail 9 as before. The turn buckle and its bars are released and moved over to the next frame section, as shown in dotted lines in F 1. Pipes 9 and 10 of first ysection are released together with the bar l1 and these are then simply moved over to the left in Fig. l to form another frame section,l This operation is repeated until the entire log has been cut, the length of the rails 9 and 10 inV all cases governing dis-j tancesbetween saw cuts.

The structure specified in claim 1, said securing means comprising successively hooks pivotally secured in the transverse bars and having sharp points adapted to be driven into the log, and L-shaped hooks pivoted on the `power plant and adapted to frictionally engage the rail bars of the rectangular frame.

In a device of the class described, a flat skeleton frame adapted to support a sawing` machine movably mounted on it, said frame composed of separable sections involving three parallel spaced bars either one oli which may be used as the middle one and detachably connecting the iframe sections and 'forming a track for the sawing machine.
