DISPLAY s rnnn.
- Application filed February 20, 1922.. Serial No. 53712 86.
T0 allv whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, Qrmnnns FISCHER, a citizen of the United States, residingat 3657 Broadway, city, county and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'DisplaySta-nds, of which the following is a. specification.
My invention relatestodisplay racks and i articularly to a folding two-part display stand which can be quickly and cheaply manufactured, one part. being adapted to stand upright and the other forming a more or less inclined shelf, each part being adapted to display eitherwthe advertisingliterature or the article 'to be displayed.
One of the objects of my invention is. to provide such a stand consisting of two wire bails pivoted together avhich interlockwhen the stand is set up and which by merely pressing together the sides of one part can be readily collapsed. so as to be folded for shipment.
With the above and other objects in view my invention consists of the parts, improvements and combinations more fully pointed out hereinafter.
Referring to'the drawings: Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the stand when set up in position to display the circulars and article; v
, Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the parts shown in Fig. 1;
Fig. 3 is a side View of the partsshown in Fig. 2 but with the stand in its collapsed condition as for shipment;
Figs. 4 and 5 are respectivelyia cross-see tion and an elevation of a detail showing the ends of the standing bail and the means of connection;
Fig. 7 is a front view of the *upright'bail; Fig. 8 'isa side elevation of the bail shown in Fig.7; 1
Fig. 9 is a front elevation of the bail forming the shelf; and i Fig. ,10 is a side elevation of ,theba-il Fig. 6 is a detail of the latching mechanism; 1
clear from the above description.
ing the two bails forming the stand. The upright bail is provided witha cross rod 4i connecting the two ends upon which the other hail or shelf is swung.
Theshjelf bail likewise consists of a single piece of wire provided with. eyes 5 at its played. Thisstop in the form of the inventionillustrated, is constituted by a cross wire 6 forming part of the. wire bailand uniting its two sideiarms 7, 8.
vleansare provided for latching and interlocking the two bails when the stand is set up and for permitting a ready collapsing of thestand whendesired. Inthe form of the invention illustrated I'bend eachside of the upright bail so asto provide it with a bent portion forming an ear 9. The shelf bail also has its. side arms made resilient and provided with hent portions 10, 11 connected to the side arms by inclined shoulders 10 li the" portions 10; "1 1 forming latches which engage withithe ears 9 under theoutward spring of "the wire arms of the shelf hail. By pressing the side arms of the shelf bail together they will assume the dotted line positions shown in Figs. 1, 6 and 9; the latches will be disengaged from the cars so that the standimay be folded.
The top of the standing bail has its two ends 12, 13 bent so asto 'forma transverse member and both oft-he ends are bent again at right angles to the transverse portions at 14:. The ends are covered by a clip 15. One of the ends terminates in a hook 16, thus providing means to which a pocket or display device 17 may be secured as shown in dotted lines in Figs. 1 and 2. In this pocket maybe carried advertising literature which explains the article carried on the lower shelf. Or the bottom stand can be usedto hold circulars or literature andthe article maybe displayed from the upright .stand. The operation of the invention will be It will also be understood'that' changes may be made intheconstruction of the parts without -departingfroin the principle of the invention. i
