To all whom it may concern:

Be it known, that I, Josnrrr P. GnssoN, a citizen of the United States, residing atlChicago, in the county of Cook and Eitate of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Combined IroningBoards and Clothes Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

This nvention relates to a combined roning board and clothes hanger and particularly to an artlcle of thischaracter capable,

this character whereby the usual broad end of the ironing board is constructed in the form of shoulders for use as a clotheshanger.

A toldable leg 16 is hinged at its end 17, to the end portion 8 of the ironing board, the d por n 1 of h g be ns te ided i a spring clip 19 Which is riveted to, the leg and may be swung to one side to permit the end 18'of the leg to engage the ground. When the leg 16 is not in use it is folded upon theironing board G thespring clip 19 being disposed in engagement with the arm 13, the arm l3, having a recess 20 for thereception of the spring clip.

The supporting arm is then supported by the hooks by passing the latter through the eyes 11. The spring clip 19 is then disengaged from the arm l3 so as to permit the leg 16 to be swung downwardly into engagement with the floor. In this way the ironing board is held in a horizontal position so that it may be used either for iron ing or as a table. lVhen the device is used as a clothes hanger, the novel form of catch being disposed in recess 20 does not interfere with the clothes that are supported by the arm 13. If desired, various flat articles may be disposed between the leg 16 and the ironing board So that it may also be utilized when in its folded position. From the foregoing it will be readily seen that this ironing board can be used without any additional support such as a table or chair. It does not contain anycadjusting means or require that the leg be removed when the clothes are supported by the shoulders 15. Furthermore, the supporting arm 13 occupies the same space and may be removed and applied similar to the usual clothes hanger used in wardrobe trunks and as the ironing board and clothes hanger, together with the supporting arm, are made in one piece, the combined articles will last indefinitely as there are no parts to be loosened by rough handling of the trunk.

In addition to the above mentioned feature, a metal reinforcing member 21 is secured to the end portion 7 and extends over the extensions 9. It will be noted that the member 21 terminates adjacent the marginal edges of the extensions and is cut away at its end portions as at 22 so as to reinforce the hooks 10. This reinforcing member braces the extensions 9 and prevents clamage should the ironing board be accidentally dropped or be handled roughly.

I do not desire to limit myself to the construction of this combined clothes hanger and ironing board for use in wardrobe trunks, as the device can be readily supported in cupboards when used as a clothes hanger and can also be supported by hooks carried by another supporting member such as a wall or table, to support the end 7 when the device is used as an ironing board.

What is claimed is:

l. The combination with a wardrobe trunk including clothes hanger supporting rods, of supporting hooks slidably mount ed in one section of said trunk, an ironing board having an extension projecting from the intermediate portion of one end, the end portion of said ironing board adjacent the extension forming clothes supporting shoulders, a supporting member formed integral with the extension and having its ends projecting beyond the sides of the ironing board, the ends of said supporting member having supporting hooks and eyes, a leg hinged at one end to the other end of the ironing board, said hooks being engaged with the clothes hanger supporting rods when the device is used as a clothes hanger, said first mentioned slidable hooks being disposed in the eyes and co-operating with the leg to support the ironing board in a horizontal position, and means for securing the end of the leg to the supporting member.

The combination with a wardrobe trunk including clothes hanger supporting rods, of supporting hooks slidably mounted in one section of said trunk, an ironing board having an extension projecting from the intermediate portion of one end, the end portion of said ironing board adjacent the extension forming clothes supporting shoulders, a supporting member formed integral with the extension and having its ends projecting beyond the sides of the ironing board, the ends of said supporting member having supporting hooks and eyes, a leg hinged at one end to the other end of the ironing board, said hooks being engaged with the clothes hanger supporting rods when the device is used as'a clothes hanger, said first mentioned slidable hooks being disposed in the eyes and co-operating with the leg to support the ironing board in a horizontal position, and a spring clip carried by the other end of the leg for engagement with the supporting member when the ironing board is used as a clothes hanger.

3. The combination with a Wardrobe trunk including supporting means, of a combined ironing board. and clothes hanger comprising a body member having one of its ends formed into clothes supporting shoulders, an extension extending from said end between the shoulders, oppositely extending arms projecting from the extension in spaced relation to said shoulders, said arms being arranged to support the body member through the medium of said supporting means within the wardrobe trunk when used as a clothes hanger, said arms being ar ranged to support one end of the body member when used as an ironing board, a foldable supporting leg pivoted to the other end of the body member, said leg supporting the other end of the body member when used as an ironing board, and means carried by the other end of the supporting leg for engagement with the end of the extension when the leg is folded upon the body member.

4:. The combination with a wardrobe trunk including a drawer section and a hanger section of an ironing board disposed within the hanger section, said ironing board having an extension at the intermediate portion of one end, said extension including oppositely extending arms, the end of each arm having a recess and an opening adjacent the recess, said recess being adapted to engage supporting means Within the hanger section, hooks slidabiy disposed in the drawer section and adapted to engage the openings in said arms to support one end of the ironing board when removed from the hanger section, and means carried by the other end of said board for supporting said end when the board is used for ironing. 10
