HEADLIGHT.
Application filed March 27, 1922. Serial No. 547,120.
li s of the general type commonly employed on motor vehicles, and it has for its primary object to provide a headlight in which the lamp is at all times concealed from View, thus effectually eliminating'the bhnding effect which is incident to exposure ofthe brilliantly glowing lamp filament within rected against the reflecting elements 2 of the main casing. 4

l V hat is claimed is- 1, A headlight comprising a main casing fleeting element, and a hinged door embodying a glass face disposed in closing relation to the front of said main casing below said supplementary casing, the upper edge of said door being arcuately curved to conform to the lower edge of said supplea reflecting element located within the rear part of said casing, a casing of concaveconvex form in central section supplementary to the main casing, said supplementary casing being mounted upon the upper part of said mam' casing, and facing rearwardly, said supplementary casing having a rim which is extended in ring-like form for seating upon the front edge portion of said main casing, a lamp located behind said supplementary casing, a reflector embracing said lamp and disposed to concentrate the rays from the latter upon said reflecting element, a door frame shaped to conform to the under side of said supplementary casing and that portion of the main casing below said supplementary casing, and a glass face fitted in said frame, said ing arcuately curved in horizontal section. 3. A-headlight comprising a main casing having a vertically disposed open front end, a reflecting element located Within the rear glass face 'bepart of said casing, a casing supplementary to the main casing, said supplementary casing being of concave-convex form in central section and being mounted upon the upper part of said main casing and facing rearwardly, said supplementary casing having a rim which is extended in ring-like form for embracing said open front of the main casing and having an arcuately curved lower edge, a lamp located interiorly of said supplementary casing, arefiector located adjacent to and forward of said main casing and disposed for concentrating rays front the lamp upon the aforesaid reflecting element, a door frame hinged to the lower central curved edge portion of said supplementary casing, said frame being shaped to conform to said edge portion and to the main casing below said supplementary casing', and a glass face carried by said frame.
