GLUEE SUPPORT.
Application filed August 16,
To all 1071 0m it may, concern Be it known that l, illirronio Boneroviuvnr, a citizen of the United States. residing at Barnesboro, in the county of. Cambria and. State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful improvements in Globe Supports. oi which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to globe supporting means, the principal object of the invention beingto provide means for detachably supporting a globe, such as the globes for electric lamps, gas lamps and oil. lamps. in such a miiumer that the globe can be easily and quickly removed and replaced.
Another object of the invention is to provide means for detachably connecting; the support to the lamp or the lamp support.
This invention. also consists in certain other -features of construction and in the combination and ar anpgement of the several views, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the acompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in. the appended claim.
.ln describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several vows, and in which Figure 1V is a plan view oi? the invention.
l igure 2 is a longitudinal sectional view.
Figure l is a bottom plan view partly in section.
As shown in these views the device consists of a body 1 which is of substantially inverted saucer shape and. having a circular opening 2 at the center. The body is pro rided with a semicircular reduced extension which extends half-way around he opening and a semi-circular jaw member i :-;tension 8, as at 5. Both the jaw and the extension are provided with handle parts (i and a spring 7 is located be tween the handle parts and tends to hold the jaw member against the extension that said jaw member and extension term a. circular part the inner walls of which form continuations of the wall of the opening 2. Ears 8 are struck from the side edges of the saucer-shaped member and these cars are bent over the bights 9 of the substan tially U-shaped springs 10 which are arranged within the body or member 1. Two of these springs are used and the end of l: is hin 'ed to the 1921. Serial No. teaser.
each spring is bent outwardly to provide the handle parts 11 which extend through slots 12 formed in the sides of the member 1. These springs and their handles are so arranged that by pressing the handle members of each pair towards each other the springs will be expanded so as to permit globe to be placed between them and when the handle men bers are released the springs will contract and grip the globe and thus hold some in the body.
By pressing upon the handles 6 of the aw member and the extension the jaw member will be opened so that the device can be placed on a part oi a lamp or its supp01 and then by releasing the handles the spring 7 will cause the jaw 4 to close and thus grip the lamp or its support.
It is thought from the foregoing description tha the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes "fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is ii globe support of the character described comprising a substantially inverted saucer-shaped body portion provided with slots on diametrically opposite sides and an opening in its center. ears formed on s: body portion and designed to oppose each other. a pair of sub tially ti -shaped springs ai ngcd one above the other in the body pori'uon a bight termed on said springs intermediate of the ends and adapted to secure said springs to the body portion through the medium of the cars, a. handle termed on each end of each spring a designed to project through the slots :ror easy manipulation thereof. a semi-circular reduced extension formed on the body portion, and extending half way around the opening; therein a jaw member pivotally secured to the extension and normally arranged around the ther half of the opening in the body portion, a handle formed on the jaw and semicircular extension respectively and a spring bearing against the respective handle for the purpose specifiec.
In testimony whereof I aiiix my signature.
