Be it known that l Planer BIZAIUJEN, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, residing; at Travers, in the county of Bow River and Province of l ilberta, have invented. ertain new and useful Improvements in Grinding Apparatus, ot which the following is a specification.
The present invention relates to improve ments in grinding apparatus and. the principal object is to provide a device of the character described, adapted for grinding discs.
A further object is to provide means whereby the disc being ground will be tensioned against the emery Wheel positioned on the apparatus.
llith these and other objects in view, the invention consists in the constructioin combination and arrangement of parts. as will. be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanving drawin s and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended.
Figure 1 is a side 'elevat onal view, illustrating my improved grind apparatus.
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the same.
Fig. 3 is an end elevational view of the same.
Referring: to the drawings, like numerals designate like parts in the various drawings.
The numerals 4: and 5 indicate the standards supporting the apparatus. Transverse bars 6, 7 and 8 are longitudinally disposed on the standards and substantially connected thereto.
Tlransverse shaft 9 is journalled in bearings l0 and 11 on the upper extremity of standards l and 5. A suitable platform 12 is positioned on the transverse bars 6 and 7 and supports an electric motor 14, Power is transmitted from the motor to the transverse shaft 9 by belt 15 trained over pulleys 16 and 1'? positioned on the drive shaft of the motor and the said transverse shaft 9.
The bar 8 has a longitudinal slot 18 and has a bolt 19 passing through the same to engage in the longitudinal slot in the transv rse bar 520 on the bracket member 21. This transverse bar 20 is slidably mounted. in the guide 22, in the bar 8. Bracket member 21 supports the vertical sleeve member 23, in which is journalled vertical shaft 24. Helical gear is mounted on the lower end of the vertical shaft 2%, and is rotated bv worm gear 526 mounted on transverse shaft 27, which is journalled in bearings 28, 29

From the foregoing, it is thought that the construction of my invention will be clearly uiulerstoorh and, 'tl'ierefore. a more extended explanation has been omitted.
lVhat I claim as new is:
1. An apparatus of the character described, comprising in combination supporting standards, hearings, on the said. supporting standards, a main transverse shaft journailed in the said bearings, means to rotate the said shaft, upper and lower transverse bars mounted on the said supporting standards, a bracket, means slidably mounting said bracket on the upper transverse bar, a sleeve vertically mounted in the said hi clret, a vertical shaft journalled in the said sleeve, means for mounting a disc on the upper end of the said vertical shaft, an emery wheel mounted on the said main transverse shaft, means rotating the said disc in proper ratio with the said emery wheel, said means comprising a helical gear positioned. on the said vertical shaft, a bracket mounted on the said sleeve. hearings on the said bracket. a secondary transverse shaft journalled in the said bearings, a worm iountcd on the said transverse shaft functioned to drive the said helical gear, an uprin'ht standard mounted on the said frame, a bearing on the said standard, the opposite end of the said secondary transverse shaft join-nailed in the said bearing, a pulley wheel mounted on the said secondary transverse shaft, and a pulley mounted on the said main transverse shaft, a driving belt trained over the said pulley and pulley wheel, a pivoted bracket, a roller carried thereby for contact with the disc being ground and a spring acting on said bracket between its pivot and the roller to hold said roller in contact with the disc.
An apparatus of the character described. comprising in combination supportingstandards, hearings on the said supporting standards, a main transverse shaft journalled in the said bearings, means to rotate the said shaft, upper and lower transverse bars mounted on the said supporting standards, means slidably mounting a bracket on the upper transverse bar, a sleeve vertically mounted in the said bracket, a vertical shaft journalled in the said sleeve, means for mounting a disc on the upper end of the said vertical shaft, an emery wheel mounted on the said main transverse shaft, means rotating the said disc in proper ratio with the said emery wheel, said means comprising a helical gear positioned on the said vertical shaft, a bracket mounted on the said sleeve, hearings on the said bracket, a secondary transverse shaft 'journalled in the said bearings, a worm mounted on the said transverse shaft functioned to drive the said helical gear, an upright standard mounted on the said frame, a hearing on the said shaft. the opposite end of the said secondary transverse shaft journalled in the said bearing, a pulley mounted on the said main transverse shaft, a driving belt trained over the said pulley and pulley wheel functioned to transmit power from the said pulley to the said. pulley wheel and means regulating the tension of the said belt, a pivoted. bracket, a roller carriedthereby for contact with the disc being ground and a spring acting on said bracket between its pivot and the roller to hold said roller in contact with the disc.
