Application tiled detener ad, 1921. Serial No. 510,022.
To all lwhom. t may concern: y
Be it blown that l, dunne Bmwnnn Minne, a suhject'of the King of Great Britain, and resident ci 58 Parkway Ave., city of liloronto, county of York, Province of Untario, Dominion of Canada, have invented certam new andv usetul improvements in Automobile Washers, of which the following is a description.
The invention relates to improvements in automobile washers as described in the present specihcation and shown in the accompanying drawings that form a part ot' same. The' invention consists essentially of the novel features of construction whereby a brush head is provided with sprinkler apparatus suitably connected with the source oir liquid supply through the handle and adapted to supply liquid to the brush or mop.
The objects ot the invention are to pro vide a continuous flow of water or other liquid to the brush and thus prevent the ac- Elli cumulation oi sand or other foreign matter4 which would he injurious to the huish of the object being washed, to provide a washing device in the employment ot which it is not necessary ior the operators hands to come in contact with the liquid and generally the objects of the invention are to produce an automobile washer which will he inexpensive of construction, eminent in operation and durable. f
ln the drawings, Figure l is a perspec tive view ot the device.
TFig. 2 is a cro-ss sectional view through the washer.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the detached from the holder.
Fig. l is a longitudinal sectional view through a portion oi the tubular handle and the universal nut employed toconnect the brush with source of water supply.
Lilie numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in the various hgures.
Referring to the drawings l. is a disc circular in plan and having its eds turned downwardly and inwardly forming an annular mop retaining pocket 2, said mop lhead haing provided with a central opening 3 havin@1 an outward encircling dee 4L ine teriorly taded'.
5 is a substantially dish shaped sp f memr hair its o side rigidly se cured to the under side oi the mop head and having the openings 6 located in the sides thereof to deiiect the liuid in a lateral di- The mop 7 is preferably wound around or secured to an expansile core Soi wire or other spring material adapted to exert a spreading induence to hold the mop rmly in engagement with the'downwardly turned portion of the mop head.
9 is a handle eateriorly threaded at one end to correspond to the interior threads on the flange t and at its other end being provided with suitable means, suchas a coupling i0, for connecting the handle with the hose or other form of liquid supply.
ln the use of this invention the coupling l0 is secured over the hose connection and the water or other liquid turned on. The device is then grasped hy the handle 9 and the mop reciprocated over the surface to he cleaned. As' the openings in the sprinkler are on a horizontal plane the water is not forced directly onto 'the object, hut rather into the mop, tending to thoroughly saturate same, and at the same time force, out all dirty water and foreign matter, which would otherwise he injurious to the nish oia the object. v
What ll claim is:
An automobile washer comprising a circular disk having its peripheral edge inwardly curled to form an annular pocket, and a central opening therein; a cup shaped sprinkler meniher rigidly secured tooneside of said dish, a mop encircling said sprinkler member, said mop fitting into said annular pocket oi the said disk by means of a tcnsioned wire core; a tubular handle eatending from said disk and connected to a source or liquid supply, saidhandle communicating with the sprinkler member and adapted to supply liquid thereto for the purpose of saturating the said mop. i s
