To all whom c't may concern:
Be it known that I, Srnrnn SHIMKO, a citizen of Russia, residing at Parnassus, county of Westnioreland, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Antislipping Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in ice-creepers, designed for attachment to boots or shoes, and has for its object to provide a novel simple device which can be readily attached to and detached from the sole of a boot or shoe.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a device of this type which may be kept on the shoe or boot when entering a house without the danger of injuring the floor.
These and other like objects are attained by the novel construction and combination of parts hereinafter described and shown in the accompanying drawings, forming a material part of this disclosure, and in Which Figure 1 is an end view of the device as applied to a shoe.

As shown in Figure 1, the device is adapted to be transversely secured to the sole of a boot or shoe 10. The creeper consists chiefly of a main or bottom plate 11 having two upturned end plates 12 and 18 made integrally therewith to the upper ends of which straps let and 15 are secured including a buckle 16 and loops 17 for securing and guiding the device on the uppers of a boot or shoe.
To the underside of the plate 11 a longitudinally extending rubber strip 18 is secured near one of its side edges by means of tongues 19 struck out of the material of the plate. A rod 20 is guided through two eyes also struck out 01. the material of the plate, and is rectangularly bent at both ends to engage at one end the plate 11 on its underside, and at the other end a bracket or sleeve 21 for the reception of a lever 22 standing under the control of a spring 23 .within the sleeve and being pivotally connected intermediate its ends, as at 2 1 be 1920. The rod 20 is provided with a plurality of teeth 20 adapted to engage the ice or snow in order to avoid a slipping anl "falling of the user of the device on a slippery surface. The upper face of the plate 11 is corrugated as at 26 to ensure a frictional engagement between sole and device. When a person desires to enter a. building without removing the creeper from his shoes or boots, he simply disengages the lever 22 from the stop 25 against the action of the spring 23 which normally presses the lever in engagement with the end wall behind the stop. and turns the rod 20 by hand so that the teeth 20 lie fiat against the underside of the plate 11 below the plane of the rubber strip 18. It will be clear that vice versa, when the user desires the creeper to come to action on the street, he will simply have to turn the lever 22 against the action of the spring 23 to engage behind the stop 25.
The lever 21 is made in one piece with the rod 20 and lBlZtlZlVGl heavy and it will therefore be clear that upon the operation of this rod to lie flat against the sole of the shoe, the lever 21 will retain a position in approximately the same plane, and substantially parallel to the floor, and above the same although spaced ti ereitrom while keep ing by its weight the rod 20 in this position flat against the sole.
