To all whom it mag concern:

citizen of the United States, residing at WVorcester, in the county of lVorcesteraand State of Massachusetts, have 1nvented a new and useful Hose-Supporter Button, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates vto a button (for hose supporters. the invention are to'provide improved and simplified means for attaching ai-rubber col:- let to a base of sheet metal oriother material; to provide the attaching means in such form as to positively prevent the turning of the rubber collet on its axis even after considerable wear; and to provide a fastening device which will be capable of passing through the collet and holding it effectively, and will keep the outer surface of the head of the collet in a smooth uninter rupted form; Additional objects and advantages of the invention will appear hereinafter.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, in which 7 Fig. 1 is a front view of a hose supporter having a button constructed in accordance with this invention;

Fig. 4 is a longitudinal central sectional view showing a modified form;

Fig. 5 is a similar view showing another modification, and 1 Fig. 6 is a front view of the latter.

It has'been usual to fasten rubber collets on their bases by means of acentral cylindrical headed rivet passing through the same and riveted over on the back of the supporting plate or base. lVhen these collets are round they sometimes get loose after long wear and are capable of rotating or turning on the rivet as a center. i This is not a serious disadvantage in the case of round collets, but would spoil the efficiency of a collet which was given some other shape in order to improve its function of holding the top of a stocking and this invention is shown as applied to a button of that type.

For the purpose of fastening this collet in position I provide a staple like member 16 made of a piece of flat wire preferably, and having a long head 17 doubled under at both ends to form ends 18 or double thickness and having its two 1 ends bent downwardly therefrom to form'two fastening prongs 19. These are both passed through corresponding holes in the base plate and riveted over on the back. This staple, of course, passes through two perforations through the collet which are spaced apart and between which there is a solid body 20 of rubber integrally united with the rest of the collet. The head of the staple is located flush with the head of the collet so i as to form a complete unitary structure and leave the visible 'surfa'ceof this head in a substantially smooth condition without. any

In the form shown in Fig. 4 the same principles are maintained except that there are two separate rivets 21 instead of one, and

In the last two figures I have shown a similar construction in which there is a single rivet passing through the collet having a flat head 26 shaped and looatecl 'similar to the others mentioned above, and provided, with a flat shank ,27 extending down. to the base late andllp'assing. through similar shaped iole therein and riveted overlon the back.
