APPARATUS FOR CUTTING- TUBES.
Application filed March 29, 1921. Serial No. 456,762.
To all whom it may concern.
Be 1t known that I, MATHIEU SnnvAIs,
manufacturer, a subject of the King of Beli such as will enable others skilled in the art to, which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to :the accomgium, residing at 38 Rue Nysten, Liege, Belgium have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Apparatus for Cutting Tubes (for which I have filed an application in Belgium 30th day of April, 1920, and in France 15th day of February, 1921) and T do hereby declarethe following to be a tull, clear, and exact description of the inventlon,
panying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked therein, which form a part of this specification.
The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting tubes of that type in which the tube to heart is clampedbe tween rollers one carried by the operating lever and the other carried by a member slidable upon the said lever and adapted to be secured on this lever. .The presentin- VBl'lClOIT partlcularly relates to means for controlling the movement of. the cutter.
According to the present invention this cutter is fixed 011 a screw-threaded rod 1 which is prevented from rotating and only capable of being displaced axially, the screwthread of this rod being engaged with an internal screw-thread provided in the centre of a toothed wheel whose axial displacement is prevented and whose rotation is effected by a worm operated by hand. The accompanying drawings represents by way of example one method of carrying out the invention. I
In these drawings:
paratus, partly broken away. I
Figure 2 1s a horizontal section taken through the. plane of the worm.
Figure 3 is a vertical section on A'B, Figure 2. y
The tube to be out is clamped between rollers such as 1 and 2. The rollers 1 are edges.
Figure 1 is a perspectiveview of the ap desired position with respect to the rod 1 by means of the clamping screw 6 operated by the handle 7. The member 5 is of U-form secured at its base to the rod 4: and each of its operating mechanism 1s arranged between the two branches-of the U. i i
The cutter 8 is fixed on a check 9 integral witha screw-threaded shaft 10 capable of bemg displaced axially but incapable of rotation. The rotation of this shaft 10 is pre- Vented by reason of the cheek 9 engaging two rlbs, 2T, 28 of the member 5. The screw thread of this shaft is engaged within a corresponding internal screw-thread formed in the centre of a toothed wheel 11 whose ro-- tation causes the displacement of the shaft on the axis of the said worm 16.
The "securing of thecheeks 14; and 15 is effected by means of bolts 18 and19 and is completed by the fact that these checks are. traversed by the axis of the worm 16.
The'cheeks are provided with flanges 20 and 21 embracing the guides 22 carried by the member 3 p The cutter 8, in the arrangement represented, is constituted by a disc providedwith a cutting edge. It is obvious that the disc can be provided with a plurality of cutting The fixing of the cutter is effected in the following manner: The cheek 9 is provided with a screw-threaded pin 25 on which the disc is fixed. The latter carries a toothed or serrated collar 23 whose teeth engage. these of a toothed ring24: carried by the said cheek 9. The reciprocal engagement of the teeth is assured by a nut 26 screwed on the pin 25.
