bythe pressure oi air over the grate of the' furnace, or other chamber that is dampercontrolled. My object is to obtain a suhstantially uniform pressure in furnaces and other damper-controlled devices, in an autoA matic manner.
ln the devices of the past, it has been the practice to hinge plates either horizontally or vertically in an opening in the side of a furnace, and by said plates control the damper operating motor. lt has also been for many years the practice to control the damper motor byineans of a pneumatic diaphra or the like. l
ln all such' devices, there is expensive construction and more or less delicate mechanisnl, and it is the object of my invention to provide a stout and inexpensive device, which `is very compact and is readily adjusted. ln this connection l employ as a controlling member an inverted tloat, which is suspended onthe' valve rod that controls, the Water motork so that the valve Works on 'the axis of the doet. The Water motor is mounted on the top of the float tank, Without lose of space, and some of' the Water 'flowing through the valve ports runs into the tank and maintains the fluid level therein.
The motor is of special construction and positive andaccnrate in its operation, losing calculated 'to adjust the damper tothe position desired Without undue oscillation, and 1cya simple operation. v

A damper regulator comprising in part a motor havin a piston, an inverted vessel float influenced by the dampered draft, a reciprocating valve in the motor for controlling the position of the` piston therein to cause it to be located at positions corresponding to positions of the valve, said float being'suspended from said valve and `in axial alignment therewith.

A damper regulator comprising in part a motor havi a piston, an inverted vessel iioat influence by the dampered draft, a reciproca-ting valve in the motor for controlling the position of the piston therein to cause it to be located at positions corresponding to positions of the valve, Said oat being suspended from said valve, and a cord from said'valve, saidcord being under the control of a weight hook for receiving regulating weight.

The combination of a reciprocating draft-controlled balanced valve, of a motor having a Water inlet to admit a constant flovv of Water, a piston in the motor, and a longidevice in axial alignment with' yand controlled by the vertically moving tudinally Vextending Water-controlling port element in the motor adapted to be closed and opened progressively by the valve to control the length ofthe Water column in the motor above the piston, and means for l holding the piston up against the column of water. A pressure-controlled motor for use with a reciprocating draft-controlled member, comprising a cylinder, a Water inlet |'port therefor, a chamber in the cylinder Wall' having an outlet, the cylinder Wall having a series of holesv into the chamber or their equivalent, said' reciprocating member adapted to move in said chamber free from `pressure and to closethe holes therein, for the purpose described.
12. A damper-controlling piston under the inuence of a constant flow of water, a cylinder inxvhich said piston is adapted to move, a series of outlets in different' longitudinal positions iin the motor or their equivalent, and a draft-controlled balanced valve for closin the outlets dependent upon its position, for the purpose described.
13. A' damper 'regulator comprising a tank, a Water motor on the tank with a constant' flow of Water therefrom, a draft-con- 'trolled float in the tanlr, a motor-controlling element under the influence of the iioat, and
means for automatically supplying the tank v with Water discharged from the motor.
14. A damper regulator comprising a damper connection, a piston under constant pressure of a flow of. motive fluid, a draft controlled reciprocating member and a balanced connection from the reciprocating member adapted to control the point of escape of the motive fluid from exertion of pressure against the piston.
15. A damper regulator comprising a damper,l an actuating member under constant pressure, and balanced connection therefor with the damper, a balanced member under control of the pressure in the damper-controlled chamber and connection therefor with the actuating member whereby the movement of the balanced member Will vary they pressure on the actuating member to shift the damper.
16. A damper regulator comprising a damper, an actuating member under constant pressure, with balanced connection therefor with the damper, means for changing the bal- Winer cnam.
