CARPET PROTECTOR.
Application filed January 16, 1922.
[o all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that I, CLARA B. VALsi-I, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful lmprove ment in Carpet Protectors, of which the following' is -a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this` application, in which- Figure l is diagrammatic view of my carpet protector.
Figure 2 is a detail cross sectional view of one of the anchoring protectors.
Figure 3 is a detail View of one of the runway protectors.
My invention relates to a new and useful improvement in carpet protectors, the object being to protect the carpets and rugs from the movement of casters or other furniture supports in adjusting them for cleansing purposes. ln hotels and homes where carpets are immovably attached to the floor, the rolling of a caster over the nap or surface soon frays or wears out the floor covering to such an extent as to render it objectionable to the sight, in addition to the destructive qualities above referred to.
My invention contemplates the provision of a protective cover in the form of a cast Serial No. 529,568.
or pressed metal runway on which the legs or casters of a piece of furniture may be moved, in addition to which one leg may be anchored and held relatively stationary while the article of furniture is adjusted from one position to another in cleaning the carpet or Hoor covering.
In the drawings, 1 indicates an anchoring 40 protector substantially circular in shape, preferably made of cast or pressed metal and secured to the iioor by means of screws on the ends. As articles of furniture are usually provided with four legs, I provide protectors for the other three legs with run ways indicated at 3, Athese runways being preferably arcuate and described from a radius of' which the anchoring protector is the center.
What I claim is A fioor protector comprising a plurality of separate and independently attachable crater-like members, one of which serves as a pivotal point aboutv which an article of furniture, whose legs are supported by said members, may be moved, the other of said members being curved and elongated to accommodate the swinging movement of the article of furniture about its pivotal point.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature this 11th day of January, 1922.
CLARA BELL VALSH.
