Be it known that LEON B. Ynisnn, citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland,
`in the county of Cuyahoga and State of ymits its removal from the overflow pipe without disassembly of the pipe fittings, and adjustments in length andplacement of the pipes may be eected with considerable accommodation thereto of the valve operating connections. The overflow fitting is also particularly constructed to be secured to the tub by a set of separable members throughwhich the water may be delivered into the tub. The waste valve may also be located remotely from the waste and overflow openings in the tub and the valve handle arranged in an accessible place opposite the rim of the .tub or in one corner of the tub.
In the drawings accompanying this application, Fig. 1 is a cross section of a bath tub equipped with my improvements, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section on a larger scale of the combined overflow fitting and water delivering connection on line 2 2, Fig. 1.'

One end wall of tubs of this description generallyfhave three openings adapted to receive a pair of valves or valve bodies and an overflow fitting, and in the present instance a combined 'hot and cold water valve is used which embodies two tubular extensions 5 and 6 which project through two of said openings into the interior of the tub and have separate valves with handles 7 and 8 adapted to controlithe delivery of hot and cold water, either inden pendently or together.
The supply of hot and cold water is derived from separate hot and cold water pipes 9 and 9 which connect withthe outer endsA of the tubular extensions 5 and 6, and a single delivery shape conveys the water' from a cross connecting passage l1 into a valved spout member 12 placed within the tub opposite agrille or perforated plate or disk 13. VThe horzontalleg of member 10 and the grille plate 13, togethenwith a round'hollow overflow fitting lll, occupy the third and larger opening in the end wall of the tub, and each of said members have flanges adapted to provide bearing surfaces whereby the several parts may be clamped together upon the tub wall by screwing the spout member 12 upon the screw-threaded end of the horizontal leg of elbow member yl0 until `it engagesthe grille plate and gether. The overiiow iitting lthas a flat rear face 15 with a central opening adapted to receive the horizontalleg of member 10, and the round bodyportion of this fitting member has a short boss or'extension 16 at one side adapted to provide a connectionfor an overflow pipe 17, see Fig. 5.

'The pipe 17 -may vary dependent upon the width vertical waste pipe 18 may happen to belocated away or apart from the waste opening 19 in the bottom of the tub, and where waste pipe 18 is placed in'one corner of thek tub own, -pipe 17 is horizontally placed of the tub or the distance that the pipe or member 10 of elbow draws the several parts toi i is preferably used i the fitting members, pipe may be located in either corner of the on a straight line from fitting member 111, and a slip joint connection is made with a T-fitting 2O forming part of the waste pipe 18. A short pipe section pipe 21 extends upwardly from T-fitting 2O 'and projects through an opening 22 in the rim of the tub. A flanged screw-cap 23 engages the upper end of sect-ion 21 and clamps down upon the rim. This cap has a central opening adapted to accommodate a square or flat-sided rod 24 having ahandle 25 detachably affixed to its upper end in rotatable stop relation to a -semi-circular lug 26 on the upper face of cap 23. Rod 24 is relatively long and eX- tends downwardly through pipesection 21 and fitting 2O and: also through a second pipe section 27 and a T-fitting 28. .The upper end of pipe section 27 has a slip joint connection with the bottom end of fitting 2O and the lower end of said pipe section is screwengaged with the upper end of T-fitting 28. A tubular valve 29 is rotatably seated within fitting 28 and rodv 24 has slidable engagement `with a lateral lug 30 within said valve, and an opening 31 at the side of said valve is adapted. to register with the horizontal passage in the lateral portionv 32 of fitting 28. yThis lateral portion is connected to the bottom waste opening 19 of the tub by a horizontal branch pipe 33 together with a waste fitting 34 which is clamped to the bottom of the tub by a screw-threaded strainer plate 35. A slip joint connection between T-fitting 28 and horizontal pipe 33, .and the several adjustable or slip-joint connections described comprise flanged unionnuts and suitable gaskets. adapted to .provide fluid-tight joints.
In operation, handle 25 is in convenient reae'hoftthe user of the tub whether outside or insidev of thetub and a partial turn of the handle w-ill. rotate valve 29 and either open or close the waste passage through pipe 33. However,.the overflow through fitting member 111 and pipes 17 and 27, is not shut ofi' by rotation of the valve because the valve is tubular and there is vroom for the overflow water to pass through the valve at either side of lug 30 and the water is free to escape through pipe 18 at all times. The valve may however be lifted entirely out of the vertical pipes whenever cap 23 is unscrewed, and thepipes canbe examined or cleaned and the valve inspected and cleaned at any time.
The parts are readily assembled'regardless of variations in the distances between and the vertical waste tub ior' directly atthe end of thetub vand .adaptedto extendthrough openings in the rim of the 'tub or to be placed entirely outside of said rim, and in making such connections the only thing the mechanic has to consider is the length of pipe to be used.

This arrangement-of parts eliminatesthe need of pipe section 27 between litt-ings onthe stand pipe, but requires -a somewhat longer top section 21 as compared with pipe section -21 in'Fig. ,1.
TWhat 'I claim is:
1. A bath tub having separate waste and overflow openings-and outlet fittingsv therefor each yhaving separate vdischarge pipes connected thereto and the overflow fitting being rotatably clamped opposite its opening, a single vertical waste pipe having-littings with which said .discharge pipes are connected, and a valve within said vertical pipe adapted to control the outflow of waste water therefrom.
2. A bath tub having separate waste and overflow connections at different elevations, a vertical discharge pipe having separate fittings rotatably connectedtherewith and adjustable vertically with a slip joint at one of said fittings, a tubular valve rotatably mounted within the lower fitting, an operatingl rod in vertical adjustable connection with valve extending through said vertical pipe and the upper fittingfand a handle for said rod above the upper' end ofsaid vertical rod.
3. A bath tub having separate openings in its end and bottom and separate waste and overflow :fittings extending through said openings, a single discharge pipe andr branch pipes connecting said fittings with said discharge-pipe, and the overflow fitting being rotatably mounted in the opening in the end wall of the tub and having a water delivery member extending centrally through the rear thereof and into the tub.
4. A bath tub having a'bottom waste connection and an opening in itsvend wall, a water delivery member extending through said opening into the tub, a chambered overflow vfitting' swiveled upon said delivery member and rotatablymounted within the opening in said tub, and a branch overflow pipe connected with said tting.
5. A combined overflow fitting water delivery attachment for bath tubs comprising an angle member having a centralpassage and a chamber member having a rear wall with a central opening adapted to sleeve over and rotatably engage one of the legs of said elbow and being provided with an outlet in its side walland an intake opening at its front end.
6. A bath tub having a wall with an opening therein, a hollow overflow fitting having a front intake opening and a side outlet and a central rear opening, a water delivery member in bearing engagement with the rear end of' said fitting having a horizontal eX tension projecting through said rear opening and into `the tub, a perforated plate sleeved upon said extension in clamping engagement with the tub wall, and a spout member screw-engaged with said extension in bearing engagement with said plate.
7. In a bath tub, a hot and cold water valve, an overflow fitting having a front in* take opening and a side outlet, a water delivery elbow connected with said valves and projecting into the tub, said fitting being sleeved loosely upon said elbow and rotatable in respect thereto and the tub, and means to clamp said fitting and elbow upon the tub.
