To all whom it may concerm, i I
Be it known that I, Pnrnn Brown, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hampton, in the county of ElizabetlrCity and'State of Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ice-CreanrCone Carriers; and Ido declare the following to 'be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable othersskilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in article carriers, and it has more particular reference to ice-cream cone carriers.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a device of theabove'mentioned character which is extremely simple inconstruction which is especially designed to carry a plurality of ice-cream cones in a clean, sanitary and safe condition. 7
Other objects and advantages of the invention may become apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same;
Figure 1 is a plan of a carrier constructed in accordance with my invention.
Fig. 2 is an elevational view of the carrier, illustrating the manner in which the cones are placed therein.
Fig. 8 is a horizontal sectional view.
Fig. 4; is a modified form of my invention.
In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 1 indicates of the carrier as a whole which is constructed of a blank sheet 2 shaped as shown in Fig. 1 and having a cover or lid. 3 formed thereon. This blank may be of any suitable flexible material, butto make it extremely inexpensive I preferably use suitable substantially tough paper; The surface of the blank 2 is provided or has cut therein at spaced intervals, a plurality of pairs of,
. slits, arranged one above the other. With this arrangement it will be seen that a plurality of strips 4 will be had which are adapted to partially encircle and hold'ice- 7 cream cones C in the container 1. In order to permit the container to be easily carried I provide a strip of suitable material 5 which is detachably connected to the blank.
2 by a metal fastener as at 6. The-opposite relationship Specification of Letters Patent; Pgtqgnijed Aug; 29, 1922 Application filed November 18, 19 20.- SerialNo. 224,981.: r
an a at strip is also provided with a similar fastener 7 which isadapted toenter perforations 8 and Sin "the upper, corners blank2 are brought together infoverlapping i and the fastener inserted through perforations 8 and 9 which thus forms a conical-shaped receptacle as shown in Fig. 2. It is to be mentioned here that the strip 5 not only serves as a handle, but I also serves as a means for holding, the flexible material in conical form. When in this position the ice-cream cones C are placed within the conical receptacle, the smaller endsthereof being passed through'the pairs of slits, so that the strips 4 between the slits encircle the body of the ice-cream cones C. in the manner clearly illustrated in Fig. 3. The ,cover 3 is then foldedover the tops of.
the'cones, which protects the same and insures a clean and sanitary receptacle.
In the modification shown in Fig. 4:, it will be seen that instead of cutting slits in the paper blank 2, I provide strips 13 of 7 suitable material, such as tape,'wire, paper or the like, which are arranged one" above the other and secured to the blank 2. These strips 13 may be secured to the blank 2' in any suitable manner, such as for instance by paper fasteners it. I
It will thus be seen that the cones which are usually of abrittle nature are conveniently carried in a separated condition, the extreme top portion of the same being the only parts which contaeteach other.
By means of such a carr er cones can be of the invention or of the 'subjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I
claim: I
1. An ice cream cone carrier formed from a piece of flexible material rolled into conicalshape, means for securing and holding said material in said conical shape, said flexible piece of material havin cut therein at intervals a plurality of pairs of slits,-one' pair of slits being arranged above the other pair to form upper and lower strips which are designed to partially surround an ice cream cone, and a handle for said carrier.
2. An ice-cream cone carrier including a strips being integral with and struck inwardly from the material from which the container is formed.
5. A11 ice cream cone carrier comprising a substantially conical container formed from a sheet or" flexible material the latter being provided with a plurality of internal flexible bands for partially surrounding cones and holding the latter against the inner Wall of the container, said wall being sufliciently flexible to approximately conform to the portion of the cone Which bears against it.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
PETER BROl YN.
