ful Vacuum-Cleaner Nozzle, of which the lfollowing is a specification in such full and clear terms las will enablethose skilled in the art to construct and use the same.
This invention relates to a nozzle for vacuum cleaners adapted to the cleaning of the flues of stoves or other places of that character where it is necessary to use a small nozzle to remove the dust ory dirt collected therein.
A further object of the invention is to provide a. nozzle with a scraper which may be used for the purposeof cleaning pipes or other surfaces where accumulations of dus ma gather in hard masses.
A further object of the'lnventlon 1s to provide the nozzle with a brush which can be easily removed from time tortime as the bristles may wear out.
Another object of the -invention is to provide means whereby the scraper may be detached from the nozzle when it is not'to be used.
Other objects of the invention will appear as the description proceeds.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which the same reference numeral is applied to the same portion throughout, but l am aware that there may be modifications thereof.
Figure l is a side elevation of the complete nozzle, a portion being broken away to show a latch.
F ig. 2 is an end View. of the complete nozzle looking from the right Fig. l.
Fig. 3 `is a bottom plan view of the nozzle showing the scraper attached.
Fig. 4 is a view of the scraper detached from thel nozzle.
Fig.A 5 isa sidey elevation of one of the brush holding clips.
Fig. 6 isa'side elevation of one ofthe brushes.
Fig. 7 is a perspective view of one ofthe brush holding clips with the spring removed therefrom. a
Fig. 8 is a perspective vlew of the brush holding clip spring by itself.
rihe numeral l indicates a tube which is adapted to be connected to the vacuum cleaner pipe. rl`his tube terminates in a side opening at 2, around which opening are disposed a series of bunches of bristles 3. rThe bunches of bristles are held in place by means of small channels 4, each 4of which is secured to the nozzle by means of a rivet 5 and each of which is provided with a lug at 6 to be received in a hole in the nozzle side to prevent the channel from turning.
The channel is also provided with aspring 7 Which is secured thereto by means of a rivet 8, which spring has teeth at 9to hold a small bunch of bristles in place.
The bunch of bristles is wound with a wlre or thread as indicated at 10. rlhe bunch of bristles thus produced is about the size of the channel 4 and the bunch of bristles is placed in position by means of a sharp instrument engaging the-spring 7 and pullingit away from the channel whereupon .the old worn out bristles may be removed and the new bunch of bristles inserted in the place of the old ones.
llhe side of the tube is provided with a pair of guides 11' and l2 upon which slides a shoe 13, this shoe carries a scraper 14 and the-scraper has a spring latch l5 riveted thereto, for holding the scraper in the position indicated in Figs. l, 2 and 3.
. In use the nozzle is laced on the end of the vacuum cleaner tu e and the brush is rubbed around in the place inthe stove to be cleaned or any other place to be cleaned and the scraper is made use of to loosen any hard particles of dust or dirt;
. lWhat l claim is as follows, but various modifications may be made in the construction shown in the drawings and above particularly described form, within the purview of my invention:
A 'vacuum c leanerlnozzle comprising a tube having an opening on one side, a series of brushes partially around the side opening, a channel member secured to the nozzle for vholding each bunch of bristles anda spring for holding the bristles in the channelmembers.`
p lin testimony whereof l have hereunto set my hand this 18th day of Sept. A. D. i920.
