Be it known that I, GEORGE E. MoNEAL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State-of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Partition Structures, of which the vfollowing is a specification. 1
My invention relates to improvements in partition structures, and more particularlyto that class or type in which individually complete filling units or sections are combined or connected to form one continuous partition, the units or sections being made interchangeable at the factory and being so constructed and arranged as to be readily erected at the desired place by persons not necessarily having any great degree of skill, and which may be taken down and shifted if desired to other locations and in other combinations and arrangements.
The primary object of the invention is to provide a generally improved sectional partit'ion of the class indicated which will be exceedingly simple in construction, cheap of manufacture, and eflicient in use.
A further and very important object is the provision of individually complete interchangeable partition units or sections having conductor receiving and concealing chair-rails and baseboards, together with improved unit spacing and coupling or connecting members interposed between the said chair-rails and baseboards and spacing said partition units apart and bridging said space, forming a conductor receiving space between said units adapted to communicate with the conductor receiving and concealing portions of said chair-rails and baseboards.
With the above mentioned and other ends in 'view, the invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, hereinafter described, illustrated in one of its embodiments in the accompanying drawings, and; particularly pointed out in the appended claims.

The improved partition is made up of a suitable number of individually complete partition sections or units constructed and connected substantially as shown in one of its embodiments in the accompanying draw-' ings and hereinafter referred to.

As a means of providing the panelled sections or units with suitable conductor re-i ceiving and concealing portions or openings; suitable chair-rails 1*, and base or washboards' l", are provided on opposite sides of the intermediate and -base portions of the sections as shownmost clearly in Fi 2 of the drawings.
11 the-present instance, the conductor receiving and concealing portions or openings 1, are formed by means of-under channelled portions in the rails and boards and, if desired, the adjacent wall or panel of the section may be provided with a companion or registering panels or grooves 1 intersecting the edges of the sections or units as shown most clearly in Figs. 2 and 6 of the drawings for the purpose of communicating with the vertical intervening conductor receiving and concealing openings formed as hereinafter described. If desired, the unit spacing-and couplin members or bars hereinafter-I referred to and interposed between the chair-rails and base boards may likewise be provided with registering channels or grooves for afiording access from said chairrails to said intervening openings between the adjacent sections or units.
Asa means of coupling or connecting the panelled units or sections together when set u and particularly as a means of spacing t e adjacent or contiguous edges thereof, a suitable distance apart to form vertical conductor receiving and concealing passages or openings adapted to intersect theopenings or passages 1, in the chair-rails and baseboards above referred to, suitable unit spacing and-coupling members/f2 are provided, said spacing and coupling members 2, in the present instance, comprising vertically extending post forming bars secured to the marginaledges of the sections and interposed between the ends of the'chairrails and baseboards, the latter terminating short of the vertical edges of the panelled sections and the dimensions of theparts being such as to space the edges of the sections and parts to form an intervening space '2 providing a vertically extending conductor receiving and concealing passage.
When the sections or units are completed at the factory the section spacing and cou pling bars 2, may be attached to diagonally opposite sides by means of suitable attaching elements 2*, such as screws or the like, so that when assembling the adjacent or-c0n-= tiguous ed es may be readily brought together in tide manner suggested in Fig. 2 of the drawings, after which the opposite edges v of the coupling bars and panels may be secured together, the vertical unit spacing and couplingmembers 2 thereby bridging the intervening space 2 between the sections adapted to communicate with thehorizontally extending conductor receiving openings of the rails 1 and boards 1 as shown or cornice rail 3, in the present instance,
being provided with oppositely arranged grooves or channels 3*, adapted to receive and fit over the marginal edges of the rails 1 ofthesash; The top or cornice rail 3. is adapted to receive and support on. its opposite side suitable crown or cornice mouldings 3 the grooves 3 at the top of the cornice rail 3, being admirably adapted to receive and form. a seat for the edges of a superposed rail or panel (not shown) should it be desired to add to the height of the part1- tion or to extend it to the ceiling.
It will be seen also that the top or chan nelled portions of the crown mouldings 3 and the top or cornice rail 3 are admirably adapted to receive a conductor cord 4, along its length, said cord being adapted to enter any desired vertical intervening space 2 by boring out an opening 3 immediately above the desired intervening space, as shown most clearly in Fig. 1 of the drawings.
Having thus described one of the embodiments of my invention, without having attemped to set forth all the forms in which it may be made, or all the modes of its use,
what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patentis:
1. A partition structure, comprising individually complete filling units including under channelled chair-rails and baseboards forming horizontal conductor receiving openings, overlapping vertical post forming unit connecting members abutting against said chair-rails andbaseboards and spacing said filling units apart forming intervening vertical conductor receiving openings intersecting said horizontal conductor receiving openings.
2. In a partition structure, the comblnation with individually complete section units including chair-rails and baseboards terminating short of the contiguous edges of said units, vertical unit spacing coupling bars disposed between the end of said chairrails and baseboards and spacing the edges of said units apart forming intervening conductor receiving spaces, and a top rail extending .along the up er edges of said units when coupled together.
3. A. partition structure, comprising filling panel sections, chair-rails and baseboards, said baseboards being provided with conductor receiving portions, and vertical panel section spacing and connecting bars between the ends of said chair-rails andfbaseboards whereby said panel sections are spaced apart forming covered intervenin spaces for receiving and concealing conductors adapted to communicate with said conductor receiving portions of said baseboards.

comprising 13 panelled section units including chair-rails and baseboards provided with conductor receiving spaces, overlapping vertical post forming unit connecting bars extending between and flush with said chair-rails and baseboards and spacing sa-id panelled section units apart forming intervening vertical conductor receiving spaces intersecting said conductor receivlng spaces ofsaid chair-rails and baseboards.
6. A partition structure, comprising individually completepanelledsection units including conductor receiving and concealing chair-rails and baseboards arranged on the outer sides of said units and terminating short of the contiguous vertical edges thereof, vertical unit spacing and coupling members interposed between said chair-rails and baseboards and forming a conductor receiving space there between intersecting-said v conductor receiving and concealing portions formed by said chair-rails and baseboards.
7. A partition structure, comprising filling panel sections, chair-rails and baseboards provided with .conductor receiving and concealing portions and terminating short of the vertical edges of said filling panel sections, and vertlcal panel section and crown mouldings extendin spacing and connecting members fitted between the ends of said chair-rails and baseboards and conjointly with the spaced ends of said panel section formed thereby forming conductor receivin and concealing spaces communicating with said conductor portions of said chair-rails and baseboards. 8. In a partition structure, the combination with individually complete panelled ductor receiving opening communicating with said first mentioned conductor receivmg and concealing openlngs, and top rail connecting the upper edges 0 said units when coupled together by said unit spacing and coupling members.
