COMBINED SCREEN AND STORM SASH.

and storm window sashes and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.
An object of the invention is to provide a sash of simple and durable structure adapted'to be applied to a window frame and which may be easily and quickly transformed from a storm sash structure to a screen sash structure andvice versa.
*With this object in view the sash frame comprises top, bottom side and mullion rails which are provided at their inner edges with recesses having angularly disposed sidewalls and adapted to receive sashes which are provided at their inner edges with recesses having angularly disposed side walls. The recesses of the pieces of the sash are adapted to receive the edge portions of a screen or sheet of glass and heading strips are applied to the outer surfaces of the sash pieces and extend over the edge portions of the sheet of glass or screen whereby they are held in position in the sashes.

The rails 1 of the sash frame and the mullion rail 1 thereof are provided with recesses the full length of the rails and which are provided with angularly disposed side walls. These recesses are located at the corner portions of the rails and consequently the recesses open at the outer side of the sashand at the inner edges of'the rails.- A

The sash 3 may be secured in position in the rails 1 and 1' by means of nails, brads or other suitable securing devices and in a usual manner. The side pieces of the sash 3 are provided at their inner portions with recesses 5 which extend the full length of the pieces and the recesses 5 are provided with angularly disposed sidewalls; The recesses 5 are located at the corner portions of the side pieces of the sash and consequently the recesses open outwardly at the outer side of the sash and open inwardly at the inner sides of the sash pieces. The recesses 5 are adapted to receive the edge portions of a sheet of glass 6 or a screen 6. and securing heads 7 are secured tov the outer surface of the sash 3 and theinner edge portions of the beads 7 overlap theedge' portions of the sheet 6 or screen 6 when position in the recesses'5.

Having thus described the invention what is claimed is A device of the class describedhaving a frame and sashes, said frame having, recesses to receive said sashes between its side faces with one side face of the frame flush with one side face of each of the sashes, a mullion between the recesses, said sashes and.
