ROBERT TRAVIS, OF ELKTON, KENTUCKY, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF OF HIS RIGHT TO JESSEE RUSSELL, OF SAME PLACE.
IMPROVEMENT IN HAlR-WASHES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 142,532, dated September 2, 1873; application filed March 25, 1873. l
'10 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT TRAVIS, of Elkton, in the county of Todd and State of Kentucky,have invented a certain Compound called Hair-Wash, to be used for cleansing the head and hair, and also for strengthening the roots of and promoting the growth of such .hair, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of the invention consists in mixingfisalsoda, hickory ashes, whisky, nnslaked lime, and cooking-soda in rain-water.
To prepare said hair-wash I dissolve in one gallon of rain-Water one ounce of sal-soda, one
ounce of hickory ashes, one ounce of whisky, one ounce of unslaked lime, and one ounce of cooking-soda, to which I add any suitable quantity of any of the known perfume extracts to suit the taste. I
The above mixture used as a hair-wash will effectually cleanse the head of all impurities and the hair of all greasy mattelyiand renders the hair smooth and glossy, as Well as nourishes the roots of and promotes the growth of such hair.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As a wash for the human hair, a mixture com posed of rain-water, sal-soda, hickory ashes,
whisky, unslaked lime, and cooking-soda, in the proportions as herein described.
