TOY.
following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Among the principal objects which the present invention has in view are: to provide an interesting toy adapted to startle and hold the attention; to provide a construction which is attractive, simple and cheap.
Drawings.
Figure 1 is a vertical section of a toy constructed and arranged in accordance with the present invention.
Figure 2is a side elevation thereof.
Figure 3 is a rear end elevation of the same.
Description.
As seen in the drawings a table 8 has dependent fianges 9 forming a continuous frame to enclose an elastic member 10 .which is anchored at one end to a hook 11 and at the other with a bracket 12. The bracket,
1.2 is rigidly attached to a thin metal platform 13 on which the image 1 1 of a dog or other animal or member is mounted, which in the operation of the apparatus is supposed to require a house such as indicated y the numeral 15. The house 15 is permanently mounted on the table 8.
The platform 13 is wide enough to cover a slot 16 formed in the table 8. To assist in guiding the platform 13 when the same is pulled forward by the elastic 10 there are provided pins 17 extended from the underside of the said platform.
The free end of a cord 18 is attached to the bracket 12. The cord 18 has a button 19 at the free end by means of which the cord is drawn backward and the image 14: is retracted through the doorway in the house 15. The image is held within the house 15 by means of a knot 21 which is provided on the cord 18.
As seen best in Fig. 3 of the drawings the knot 21 is sufficiently small to pass freely {Specification of Letters Patent. Pglfljglltgdfi A 8 1g22 Application filed. February 23, 1921.
Serial No. 447,269.
through a perforation 22 in the flange 9 at the rear of the imag Extending from the perforation 22 is a slot 23 which is made too narrow to pass the knot 21, but sufficiently wide to receive the cord 18.
In the operation of the toy the button 19 I is engaged and by means thereof the cord 18 is drawn back until the knot21 passes outside of the perforation 22, the elastic member 10 permitting the retractive movement of the bracket 12 and parts connected therewith in conformity with the movement of the cord 18. The cord 18 is then moved sidewise into the slot 23 to be released until the knot 21 engages the sides of the slot 23. The image is then held in the alert position wherein the knot 21 is moved toalign with theperforation 22. When so aligned the elastic 10 is permitted to pull the bracket 12 in the image 14 from out of the house 15 to the position shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. The sudden movement of the image 14 passing from the house 15 provides a pleasing, startling sensation.
Where desired the toy may be provided with carrying wheels '24 and a pull cord 25 so that the toy may be drawn after the child or person entertained by or exhibiting the toy. This also provides for the manufacture of the toy on a larger scale if it is found desirable.
Claim.
