The body of the banjo consists of an annular rim 10 to which is secured a usual neck 11. A dished bowl 12 which iscomposed preferably of number of thin layers of wood glued together is supported upon the upper edge of the rim 10. The upper edge of this rim is also preferably correspond ingly dished to fit the bowl 12.
The flanged metal rim 1% fits over the edge of the rim 10 and bears upon the top of the bowl 12 in a curved line preferably over the inner edge of the rim 10. v
A head 1% is placed over the flange 13 and turns back over the ring 15 which holds the head snugly over the outer edge of the flange 13. An annular band 16 is placed over the ring 15 and is held down by a number of pins 1'5" which pass through brackets 18. These brackets have pins 19 which pass through holes in the rim 10 and are held thereon by means of screws 20. The pins.

It will thus be seen that the head 14: and the bowl 12 are held upon the rim by these nuts 2]..

While I have shown and described but a single embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood thatit is capable of many modifications. Changes, therefore, in the construction and arrangement may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invent on as disclosed in the appended claims, in which itis my intention to claim all novelty inherent in my invention as broadly as possible inview of the prior art.
