:iaiaeaa Application filed May 14,
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS It. (.iLirToN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Omaha, in the county of Douglas and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Tools, of which thefollowing is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved tool of the pinch bar type and the principal object of the invention is to provide an adjustable fulcrum member for the tool.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the sevoral views, and in which Figure 1 is a view of the improved tool. Figure 2 is a view of the fulcrum member.
In these views 1 indicates the shank of the tool which may be of any desired cross sectional shape and 2 indicates the head which is enlarged and beveled in the usual manner to facilitate its engagement with the object to be lifted. The other end of the wall may be bent and flattened and provided with the notch 3 so that this end may be used as a nail puller.
Studs i project from the side faces of the head and these studs are engaged by the U- shaped fulcrum member 5 so that said member is swung on said studs. In order to make the member adjustable on the tool I provide Specification of Letters Eatent.

other positions the studs will be turned so that they cannot pass through the small parts of, the slots.
It will be seen that this member will form a support for holding the head spaced from the floor or ground so that objects can be raised to a greater height than they could if the member was not used.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A tool of the class described comprising a shank, an enlarged beveled head provided thereon, said shank having a notch formed at one end thereof, studs projecting from the side faces of the head, a U-shaped fulcrum member having an elongated slot formed therein and engaging said studs, the. slot hav ing a restricted portion for permitting the studs to pass from one and thereof to the other when said member is in a certain position, said member forming a support for holding the head spaced from the floor.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature.
FRANCIS R. CLIFTON.
