CALL ANNUNCIATOR.
To all whom t may concern Be it known that LHERBERT F. PLUME, a subject of the King of England, residing at Drumheller, in the Province of Alberta and country of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Call Annunciator, of which the following isa specication.
This invention relates to an improved call annunciatory or electrical indicator designed to give a visual as well as an audiblesignal, so that a person kwho has heard asignal can positively ascertain the exact signal which is given, thereby ensuring accurate carrying out or" the order for which the signal stands.
A further object oi' the invention is to provide a call annunciator or electrical indicator of this character, which is electrically operated and designed Jfor use in mines to indicate when an elevator is to be hoisted or calls for coal, men oi' otherwise, or which can quite novel and capable of being released so that it is returned to an inoperative position after each signal is given, thereby permitting its immediate re-use and avoiding errors which might otherwise occur.
With the above objects and others in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention comprises the novel features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be more fully described in the following speciiication and embodied in the claim which is appended hereto.

is suitably mounted or supported at the` place where it is desired to give the signal. Slidably supported thereon as by means of guide straps 11, is a vertical indicator `bar 12 having formed at the upper end thereof, a pointer 13 designed-to cooperate with a series ot indications 14; equally spaced apart and marked as shown at 15, to indicate the number oibells or annunciations given audibly as willbe hereinafterset i'orth. rlhe bar 12 is provided upon its outer facewith a series olratchet teeth 16, the upper faces of which are beveled downwardly as indicated at 17, thereby providing substantially horizontally positioned lower *faces 18 to` facilitate the,
raising and lowering of the bar as will be 'further explained.
Mounted on the base 10 upon a horizontal and slightly inclined pivot 19 for movementv in an inclined plane, is a detent 20 adjacent at the i'ree end of which there is positioned a pair of electro-magnets 21, the detent serving as an armature and being of such material as to be magnetically effected so as to be drawn towai'dthe magnets when the latn tei are energized so as to cause the detent to engage over one of the beveled rfaces 17 and beneath the adjacent face 18 of a tooth 16 to, raise the bar 12 one step at a time. This part of' the mechanism serves to operate they visual. signal in conjunction with an electrical circuit for controlling the magnets, as will be further explained.
The releasing mechanism for the slidable bar 12 to permit 'the same to be lowered and returned to its normal, initial position comprises a spring catch 22 which is secured to the base 10 as at 22a and coiled in substan` tially; U-shaped form so that the iree end 22b may engage beneath one of the teeth 18 to be withdrawn therefrom. Mounted on the base 10 and to one side ora the spring catch, l have provided an electro-magnet spring support 23 carrying a pair of electroanag nets 2a positioned so that when energized, they will attract the armature or bar 25 pivoted or hinged at 25a to said base and suitably connected to and near the iiree end oit the spring catch 22 whereby the 'same may be released from the slidable bar and permit said bar to drop by gravity to its initial position, the pointer 13 of said bar thus returning to the bottom of the scale as is readily understood and clearly shown by Fig. 2 of the drawing.
