OUTBOARD BUOY FOR BOATS.
Application filed January 3, 1922.
T 0 aZZ whom it may concern Be it known that I, GUsrAvn HAAOK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Madison, in the county of Dane and State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Outboard Buoys for Boats, of which the following is a speci fication.
My invention relates to outboard buoys for boats; and the objects of my invention are, first, to provide an outboard tubular air chamber to be attached to both sides of a boat, between the water-line and gunnel; second, to provide brackets to be attached to the stem and sides of the boat with a plurality of holes for locating the tubes at dif ferent distances from the gunnel; third, to provide closures for the ends of the tubes with projecting plates adapted to be secured to the brackets by screws or bolts; and fourth, to have metal nipples and check valves disposed in the front closures for admitting and retaining compressed air in the tubes.
I attain these objects by the mechanism shown in the accompanying drawing in which Fig. 1, is a plan;
Fig. 2, is a side elevation;
Fig. 3, is an end elevation of the aft closure Fig. 4, is a side elevation of same attached to tube;
Fig. 5, is a rear elevation of after bracket;
Fig. 6, is afront elevation of same;
Fig. 8, is a plan of the stem bracket;
Fig. 7, is a side elevation of same.
Similar numerals refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
The air tubes 1, are preferably of alu- Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 30, 1922.
Serial No. 526,803.
minuin with an end closure 2, soldered to the rear end of same, sald closure being provided with an outwardly extending plate 8,
adapted to be fastened to a bracketi, on the outside of a boat by screws 5. A somewhat similar closure 6, is soldered to the front ends of the tubes, with a valve 7, for admitting and retaining compressed air, a plate 8, extends forward from the closure adapted to be secured to a bracket 9, by a bolt 10, said bracket 9, to be securely fastened to the stem of the boat by screws or rivets 11.
The tubes 1, as described will add buoyancy to a boat in a rough sea and prevent the bow being submerged, and also prevent dangerous rolling and capsizing as the rolling is arrested by the tubes before the water reaches the gunnel.
ltlaving thus described my invention, I claim.
in a device of the kind described, closed metal tubes containing compressed air and extending along both sides of a boat between the water-line and gunnehsaid tubes provided with plates extending outward from the ends thereof, a bracket with a plurality of holes secured to the stem of the boat and the forward plates fastened to the bracket by a bolt, brackets secured to both sides of the boat, a plurality of holes through said brackets in which screws are disposed for attaching the plates at the rear ends of the tubes thereto, and means for admitting and retaining compressed air in the tubes.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GUSTAVE HAACK. Witnesses FRANCES FRENCH, BERTHA Rnnsn.
