Specification of Letters Patent. Patgntgd May 16, 1922.
Application filed. July 30, 1920. Seria1.No. 400,140.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM J. HAYNES, Jr.. a. citizen of the United States, residing at Kansas City in the county of Jackson and State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and useful Improvement in Eraser Cleaners, of which the following is a specification.
- My invention relates to improvements in eraser cleanefrs.
The o'b ect of my invention 1s to provide an eraser cleaner which is simple in construction, cheap to make, durable, not liable to get out'of order, which is compact, which can be quickly attached to or-removed from a wall and which is efficient in operation.
The novel features of my invention are hereinafter fully described and claimed.
Inthe accompanying drawings, which illustrate the preferred embodiment of my invention,
Fig. 1 is a view, partly in vertical section and partly in side elevation, of my improved eraser cleaner.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view line 2- 2 of Fig. 1.
Fig. '3 is a top View of the same,
Fig. 4.- is a horizontal section on the line 4.-4 of Fig. 1.
onthe Similar reference characters designate similar parts in the different views.
1 designates a casing having on its upper side a tubular portion 2 having in its upper end an opening 3 comprising an air inlet,
across which extends a perforate brush 4, the bristles 5 -of which project above the upper edge of the inlet portion 2.
The casing is provided at one side with a downwardly extending nozzle 6 having an external. peripheral flange 7 and adapted to be inserted into the. mouth of a dust receiving bag 8. which is adapted to be removably mounted on the nozzle.
The casing is provided with a down wardly extending projection or hook .9 which is adapted to be removably inserted in a vertical hole 10, in a bracket 11 which I is adapted to be fastened to a wall 12.
The casing is provided with a passage 13 which connects the inlet 3 with the nozzle 6.
In the passage 13, directly below the 111- let 3, is a fan 14 which is secured to and r0 which is secured to the under side of the casing 1.
In the operation of my invention, when the motor is operated, the fan 14 is rotated, thus 'drawing air through the brush 4-. and inlet 3 and forcing the air thus drawn through the nozzle 6 into the dust bag8 through the wall of which the air escapes, leaving the dust in the bag. The eraser to be cleaned is rubbed over the bristles 5 and the incoming air sucks the dust with it int the casing.
The casing may beremoved at any time from the bracket 11, by drawing the projection 9 from the hole 10. This may be done when it is desired to empty the bag without removing the bag from the casing in the room where the apparatus is used.
I do not limit my invention to the structure shown and described, as many modifiedtions, within the scope of the appended in having an air inlet, abrush across-said in ct, means for drawing air through said inlet and for discharging the air through the nozzle, and a bracket adapted to be attached to a wall and having a hole for receiving said hook to support said casing, substantially as set forth.
2. In an eraser cleaner. a casing having a nozzle which extends laterally and downwardly and is adapted to support a dust bag and which is provided at its outer end with a downwardly extending hook, the casing having an air inlet, a brush across said in let, means for-drawing air through said in-- let and for discharging the air through the nozzle, and a bracket-adapted to be fastened to a wall and having a hole adaptedto-have fitted therein said hook for supporting said WILLIAM J. HAYNES, JUNIOR.
