To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, Burns Kine, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Plainville, in the county of Norfolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful lmprovementsin Ribbon Bracelets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in ribbon bracelets and pertains more especially to a clasp structure which is used to control the diameter of size of the bracelet.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a latch structure which is ornamented so as to resemble or impart the appearance to the eye of a buckle, while avoiding the use of a penetrating tongue which buckles are commonly possessed with.

A further object of the invention is to provide a clasp having a buckle like appearance, and wherein the clasp members or member form a part of the structure which is simulated to impart the appearance of the tongue of the buckle.

A still further object of the invention is to provide a structure of this type which can be formed and given a color, in part, to correspond to the frame of the buckle and color of the ribbon so as'to make it appear that the tongue appearing part extends through the ribbon.

The invention further aims to provide a device of this type which is artistic and still of simple and economical construction.

Figure 4 is a detail plan View of a modified form of the female member of the clasp.

In proceeding in accordance with the present invention the male member of the clasp is designated 1 and has slots 2 through which the ribbon R is threaded so as to be capable of adjustment. The male member 1 is formed with a pair of resilient clasp parts 3 which are received in an elongated slot 4 in the female member 5. The end walls 6 of the slot 4: as shown in Figure 4.: are formed to have snap engagement with the members 3. A cut out 7 is formed on the outer face of the female member 5 and is filled with enamel 8 which latter is colored and marked to correspond to the color and marking of the ribbon. The enameled part 8 defines a margin 8 which latter represents the frame or body of the belt buckle. The female member 5 is formed of a flat plate that has a part 9 extending above its outer face or top face, and which is shaped to correspond to the formation of the free ends of the penetrating tongue of a buckle, while the part adjacent to the inner end of the slot 4: is given a somewhat crescent shape as indicated at 10 to simulate the appearance of the pivoted or hinged end of a belt buckle tongue, the wall 6 extending beyond the concave side of the crescent shaped part 10, so as to continue the effect of the pivoted end of the belt buckle tongue.

It will be now seen that when the clasp parts 3, are in the position of Figure 1, same occupy the slot 4:, and coact with the parts 10 and 9, in simulating the appearance of a belt buckle tongue, the part 9, being of course rigidly affixed and overlapping the colored enameled portion 8, so as to further increase the desired effect of a tongue extending through the ribbon.

From the foregoing'it will be apparent that the device is of pleasing and artistic appearance, the clasp members acting to cooperate in forming the belt buckle appearing tongue, the part 9, forming a continuation of the adjacent clasp member 3, as depicted in Figure 2 of the drawings.

Referring to Figure 1 it will be seen that the enameled part 8 in appearance is similar to that of the ribbon R, consequently the effect is one of the tongue-appearing parts extending through the ribbon, as in the actual use of the penetrating tongue of a buckle with a ribbon.

The modified form in Figure t illustrates another shape of buckle appearing frame structure and obviously various forms of such frame structures can be produced by the present invention.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a ribbon bracelet clasp, a female member formed of a fiat plate having a slot and having end walls and having a part ex tending beyond its inner end to simulate the appearance of the free end of a buckle tongue, and a male member having a pair of clasp elements thereon formed to be "1) are snapped into engagement with said end Walls of the slot and to occupy the latter to create the a 'npearance of the body of the buckle tongue, the female member being formed to simulate the appearance of a buckle frame and a part of the ribbon.

2. In a clasp, a female member having a slot and having a part extending beyond its inner end to simulate the appearance of the pivoted end of a belt buckle tongue, and a part extending out from its outer end to simulate the appearance of the free end of a belt buckle tongue, and a male member having a clasp part received in the slot so as to lie between the first mentioned parts to form the appearance of the body of the tongue.

3. In a ribbon bracelet clasp, a male and a female member, having means for interengagement to connect the members, said means being formed to simulate the appearance of the body of a buckle tongue, and one of the members having parts at the respective ends of said means to simulate the appearance of the pivoted and free end respectively of the buckle tongue, said member being enameled and colored so asto have its body simulate a continuation of the end of the ribbon which is attached to said member and the frame of the buckle.

4. In a ribbon bracelet clasp, a male and a female member having inter-engaging means, said means being formed to simulate the appearance of a belt buckle tongue, and one of the members being formed so as to simulate the appearance of a part of the ribbon and of the usual body of a belt buckle so as to create the effect of a belt buckle tongue projecting through a part of the ribhon.
