In carrying on a rod proper consisting of two members-5 and 6 having cylindrical outer end portions 5 and 6 and semicylindrical,innerportions 5 and 6 which are connected bybands 7 and 8.
The band 7 is secured to the rod portion 5 near the extremity of the latter by a brad or screw 9 and is slidable upon the portion 6 of the other rod member.
The band 8 is freely slidable upon the rod portion 5 and also upon the rod portion 6 to an extent limited by the movement afforded in a slot 10 of the band 8 to a stud 11 which extends into said slot from the rod portion 6 Extending from the band 8 beyond the adjacent end of the rod part 6 are ears 12 through apertures of which extends a pin 13. This pin serves as a pivotal support for a substantially U-shaped dog 14L having its lower end serrated to provide teeth 15 which are adapted to engage in the upper surface 16 of the rod part '5 The pin 13 furthermore serves as a fulcrum for a lever 17 having a cam arm 18 adapted to engage against Fig. 3 is a view similar to p I v hands of the operator to extend between the t our invention we provide Specification of Letters Patent. The operator thereupon moves the cam lever into theposition in which it is represented in Figs. 1 and 3 whereby the rod is further extended to effect the clamping of the same between the walls.-
The'rod is readily applied or disconnected and provides a secure and rigid device from which articles may be conveniently suspended.
