Each pressure pistoirhead C preferably consists of three disks, shown in `F ig. 4, that is, two upper disks 19, and an under disk 20. The disks 19 and the disk 2O are alike in having an aperture therethrough for receiving the stem 17 of the bolt .15, but the disks 19 are each provided with an annular recess 21 for piston rings, while the disk 20 is provided with an annular recess 22 for receiving a lubricating means or swab, which rings and lubricating means are later described.
Each of the air compression piston-heads D preferably consists of two disks 23 and 24, an upper and an under disk, the disks 23 and 24 each having an aperture therethrough for receiving the stem 17 of the bolt 15. The disk 23 has an annular recess 25 .tor receiving lubricating means or swab, while the under disk 24 is provided with annular recesses 26 for receiving` piston rings similar to those ot' the disks 19, the lubricating means of thedisk 23 differing from that ofA the disk 29 and being later described. But l do not restrict myself to pressure piston-heads or air compression piston-heads composed ci separate disks, as such heads may be of one piece Yform arranged to receive the piston rings and lubricating means,`the' disk construction, however, being preferable as facilitating the manufacture and assembling ot my device.
Each rack E is a cylindrical member, in cross-section, provided on its exterior with convolutions'or annular teeth 27 and providedwith a central bore to receive the stem 17 of the bolt 15. f
The pinion F is located in the Vpartition Wall 11in an yopening 2S therein, and is loosely mounted on a shaft or bolt 29, which passes throi'lgh the cover or plate 30 removably bolted or suitably attached to the pump cylinder front walls, the shaft 29 then passing through thefpump cylinder front VWall substantially in the line Vof the partition wall and across the opening 28 thereof andV into the pump cylinder rear wall. The pinion l? is held in place by the stop collar 31, of the shait 29, and by the bushing` 32 which .occupies a space 33 provided in the pump cylinder front wall and partition wall, the bushing being or suitable fibre or any suitable bearing metal, the space 33 occupied by the bushing` 32 being oisuilicient size to ,aermit insertion or removal therethrough of the pinion F and stop collar 31. and the cover or plate 30, having a hole therethrough for the shaft 29, also providing a cover for the bushing. The pinion F is arranged on the shaft 29 to coact With or engage adjacent racks E when the parts are in operative relation, the teeth of the pinion engaging the convolutions or teeth 27 of each rack. rThe use of convolutions or annular teeth, such as 27, in cooperation with a pinion such as F, permits rotation of the rplungers B in the cylinders in operation,

The valvecage G is provided with air intake valves 34, preferably two air intake valves for each pump cylinder, these valves being of the usual` construction and springactuated in a known manner, and intended to admit air into the compression chamber or space of the pump cylinders. VThe valve cage Gr is provided with exhaust valves 35, preferably one exhaust valve for each pump cylinder, each exhaust valve 35 openingto a duct 36, which ducts 36 of the exhaust valves open to a common exhaust outlet 37 arranged for connection to a pipe or conduit 38, or other suitable means, for conveying compressed air from either of the pump cylinders to a receiver' such as the tank 39, Fig. 1. A pressure actuated pump comprising cylinders, means for connecting the cylinders to each other having space therein providing communication between the cylinder interiors, a plunger in each cylinder having a rack portion, the plunger being movable in one direction rby direct pressure and free from reciprocation by direct pressure in the opposite direction, and a pinion operatively occupying said space and engaging the rack portions of the plungers for providing, when either plunger is moved by direct pressure, concurrent movement of the other plunger to position i'or movement by direct pressure.

Apressure actuated pump comprising l cylinders, means for connecting the cylins ders to each other having space therein providing communication between the cylinderV interiors, a floating plunger in each cylinder provided with a raclr portion having annular teeth, the plunger being movable in one direction by direct pressure and free Jfrom reciprocation by direct pressure in the opposite directipn, and a pinion operatively occupying said space and engaging the annular teeth of the rack portions ot the plunger .for providing, when either of the plungers -is moved by direct' pressure, concurrent movement of the .other plunger to position for movement by-direct pressure.
