T all L0 hom it may conce/1m Be it known that l, CHARLES L. lvissix, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yeenah,r in the county of Winnebago and -State of lVisconsin, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in lVheeled Toys, of which thefollowing is a specification.-

This invention relates to a wheeled toy for small children and is particularly con` cerned with certain features of construction by which it is adapted to be used either. as a' vehicle or as a rocker. In this connection I have also -combined with otherfeatures an eating tray; (2v) `a detachable conof the invention, one embodiment whereof is illustrated inthe accompanying drawings in themanner following'- Figure 1 is a. perspective view of the Fig. 2Lis aicentral vlongitudinal sectionV therethrough;

this construction is pro-vided two wheels connected together .in unitary relation through the mediumof a pin or bolt which is provided'centrally with asleeve adapted to be moved within the C-slot 30 either' from a position at its upper end 3l to a second position at its lower end 32, or vice-versa. In Fig. 5 the rollers are shown in full lines as disposed within the lower ends of these slots by Ywhich arrangement the entire structure is elevated sufficiently to clear the rockers from the Hoor so as to permit the structure to be used as a wheeled toy. With the C- slots pointed, as shown, the normal direction of movement is preferably that which is indicated by the arrow in this ligure. llVhen the structure is to be used as a rocker, the several? wheeled units are moved to the positions indicated by the dotted lines in Fig. 5. so that the rockers are allowed to rest directly upon the floor.

lt is to be observed that by this invent-ion have provided a very simple and inexpensive toy. rlhe parts Vare so related tol each other asto permit the structure to 'function properly in any of the different capacities suggested. At the tail end a vertical rudder 40 may be carried upon a horizontal rudder 4l, this latter part being preferably detachable as through the medium or' screws 42, so as to nest within the structure when it is to be packed for shipment. Various changes or modilcations which embody the novel features of this invention may obviouslybe made, but in so far as the same are defined withinthe claims below, suoli alternative constructionsV are yto be deemed as within the scope of this patent.

I claim:

l. A combined rocker and vehicle comprising, in combination,;a pair of spacedrockers each having therein a C-slot with upper and lower extremities, a pair of wheels arranged on opposite sides of each rocker with their centers coincident with the slot, and a common axle pin for each pair of wheels extended through the slot and movable therein intermediate its ends,'the slot being formed to normally retain the axle pin in either end position whereby either the wheels or rockers may be presented operatively to the floor, substantially as described.

2. A combined rocker and vehicle comprising, in combination, a rocker in which is formed a slot extending through from side to side and having upper and lower extremities, each of which is formed to Vprovide a seat, an axle pin extended through said slot, a sleeve surrounding the axleV pin having its ends coincident with the sides of the rocker and adapted to be shifted into either seat within the slot, a pair of washers carried by the pin, one at each end ot the sleeve, a pair oit wheels mounted on the axle, one adjacent each washer and in spaced relation to the sides of the rocker, and means for retaining the wheels in place upon the axle, substantially as described.

ln a vehicle ot the kind described, the combination ot a pair of sides having their lower edges formed to present rockers loetween which are a transversely extended front wall and avert-ical wall rearwardly thereof. seat extended between the side walls adjacent the vertical wall. the seat having a narrow forwardly extending portion in the form of a rail which is connected with the 'liront wall whereby openings are provided on either side of the rail 'forwardly ot the seat, wheels adjustably mounted on the rockers having'V means for maintaining them in a fixed position either below or above the Plane ot the rockers whereby the device may roll or rock as desired, substantially as described. Y

4. In a vehicle of the kind described, the combination of a rocker in which is formed a slot that extends through from side to side, an axle inserted through the slot and having its ends protruding laterally of the rocker, a pair of wheels mounted on the axle, one on either side of the rocker, and means for spacing each wheel from the rocker, said means including a sleeve which surrounds the axle, and which is disposed entirely within the slot of the rocker, the

slot being formed with a plurality of seats within any one of which the sleeve is adapted to rest whereby the wheels may be adjusted either above or below the plane of the rocker, substantially as described.

5. A wheeled toy having, in combination, a vertical support, wheels therefor one on either side of the support which is formed with an opening therethrough, a sleeve arranged within the opening and having its ends coincident with the sides of the support, a washer arranged adjacent each end of the sleeve, an axle pin extended through both washers and the sleeve, a bearing sleeve :tor each wheel arranged axially thereof, each bearing sleeve being received upon the pin one adjacent each of the washers, and means at each end of the pin for holding the adj acent wheel in operative position thereon, substantially as described.
