STATES DAVID SPACKE, OF INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA.
DETACHABLE NURSING-BOTTLE HOLDER.
Application filed March 12, 1921.
T 0 all who-m it may concern Be it known that 1, DAVID Smoke, a citizen of the United States. and a resident of Indianapolis, county ofMarion, and State of Indiana, have invented a certain new and useful Detachable Nursing-Bottle Holder; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which like numerals refer to like parts.
This invention relates to a detachable support for supporting a bottle.
The chief object of the invention is to provide a sanitary and easily constructed sup port for a wide-mouthed bottle to hold the same so that a cover or closure member may be applied to said wide-mouthed bottle to close or seal the same without spilling the contents thereof.
Another objectof the invention is to so construct the bottle support that the same may be quickly attachable to and detachable from a table shelf, draining-board, ledge or support, as well as be universally receivable by supports of different thicknesses.
The chief feature of the invention consists in the means whereby the aforesaid objects are accomplished, as well as the accomplishment of other objects hereinafter to be described- The full nature of the invention will be understood from the accompanying drawings and the following description and. claims.
In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a erspective view of a table support, a wi e-mouthed nursing bottle and a support detachably positioned upon said table for supporting said bottle. Fig. 2 is a central sectional View taken on line 2-2 of said support and show in its association with the table support.
This invention is particularly applicable to nursing bottles of the wide-mouthed type, which is commonly known as the hygeia type of nursing bottle. It is the custom to prepare a sufficient quantity of fluid feeding, such as prepared milk for a days feeding, and said food is placed in bottles of the aforesaid type, which bottles in the present instance are designated by the nu meral 10, the mouth of which is the same diameter as the body portion. Said bottles after being filled are closed by suitable covers or seals, or said bottles may be pro- Specification of Letters Patent.

vided with a suitable closure member of nipple-form, such as the nipple 11 herein illus trated. Said seals or closure members and nipples are readily removable from the bottle mouth or neck, but resist their application thereto. It is, therefore. necessary in the application of said closure members to the bottle mouth to readily grip and hold the bottle in position; then position the dos ure member upon one portion of the mouth and gradually work the same over the entire edge. Usually in this performance the contents of the bottle is spilled or the bot- This device. therefore, provides a holder for the bottle to permit the person filling the same to use both hands upon the closure member to more readily position the same on the bottle when filled.
In order that said bottle holder or bottle holding means may be. sanitary, the same must be readily detachable from its support so that it may be cleansed. Also said bottle holder, if fashioned. sons to he detachable upon its support, must be likewise fashioned so as to be receivable by different depths of table tops, drain-boards, supporting ledges or other supports.
In the drawings 12 indicates a table top and detachably positioned upon the same and adapted to lie parallel thereto is a base plate 13 of the holder. Said] base plate is provided with a circular opening 14, and a substantially circular flange 15 surrounds said opening and defines the same. The base plate portion 13 is provided with a downwardly extending portion or flange 16 and an inclined portion 17 which extends downwardly from the depending portion 16 and away from the same to provide a tapering trough or groove 18, which taper-- ing trough receives the edge of the table top 12 and securely positions said base plate 13 upon said table top when pressure is exerted away from the edge of the table top towards the center thereof.
The bottle retaining or supporting means is herein illustrated as a circular and tubular cylinder 19, having an upper curled or headed edge 20, and the lower edge of said circular cylinder is concentric with the upwardly extending flange 15 and is centered by said flange. Said cylindrical bottle receiving portion may be suitably secured to said flange by being soldered, welded, crimped or sweated thereto, or in any other preferred or suitable manner. r'lhe depth of the cylinder 19 is such that itis adapted to receive the smallest bottle 10 which is understood to be of approximately eight ounce capacity of the type hereinbefore described and is also adapted to receive bottles oositionin said holder HXJII the table or 1 a i, i
for moving the same When desired, the base portion 13 is slotted at 21 to provide a tongue 22. The tongue or strip 22 thus is integral with the base plate portion and extends angularly therefrom and upwardly therefrom, as Well, towards the cylinder 1.9, The handle or reenioreing portion. is suitably secured at 23 by being soldered, .\'Ol(l(l or otherwise suitably secured to said'cylindrical portion 19.
While the invention has been described in great detail in the aforesaid specifications,
said specifications are to 'be considered as illustrative and not restrictive since the preferred form. of the invention has been described, but it is to be understood that various modifications of said invention Will readilysuggest themselves to those skilled in the art, and all said modificationsare considered to be Within the broad purview of theunvention, outlined by the appended claims. 7
The invention claimed is: V 1
' l. A detachable bottle support, including base portion, a support engaging portion,
a bottle receiving portion, and a reen'forcing handle portion connected to said bottle re ceiving; portion and said base portion.
2. A detachable bottle support, including a base portion, a support engageable trough integral with said base portion, a bottle re ceiving portion rigid With said base portion, and a reeniorcing handle portion integral with said base portion and secured to said bottle receiving portion.
3. A detachable bottle supportincluding a base portion, a support engageable trough. oi tapering cross section rigid with said base portion, a bottle receiving portion rigid With said base portion, and a reinforcing portion secured to said base portion and the bottle receiving portion,
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto attired my signature.
