To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, Dawn M. Rosnrzrrran, a citizen of the United States, residing at Southbridge, in the count of l Vorcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Furniture, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in furniture and has particular reference to a novel and improved construction which may be interchangeably employed in a variety of different positions or relationships as may be desired.

@ne of the principal. objects of the resent invention is the provision of a combination cabinet or similar article of furniture which while particularly adapted for use in the equipment of clothing or similar stores is also adapted for use within the home and which is so constructed with interlocking and interchan eable parts as to be capable of ready adaptation to the requirements the particular configuration of the portion of the room in which it is to be located.

A further and important advantage of the present inventionis the provision of an article of this character adapted to be manufactured and sold as independent units or sections each complete in itself but adapted to interlock and combine with other corresponding units to the end that if desired an entire store or the like can be completely fitted. up with the necessary containers. display racks and cases for the entire assortment of goods, complete with dressing rooms, mirrors, wall, semi-partition cabinets, etc., properly fitting any given wall space without the necessity of having said fixtures specially built for a particular location or permanently affixed to the buildin Another purpose of the present invention is the provision of store. furniture or fittings which can be shifted as desired to alter the interior appearance of the shop without expense. which may be employed to quickly and desirably fit up a store without special carpenter work or interference with the regular interior finish of the building, and which can be easily removed without damage and will be in perfect shape and perfectly adapted for use in a new location.

Other objects and advantages of my improved construction should be readily apparent by reference to the following specification taken in connection with theaccompanying drawings, and it will be understood that i may make any modifications in the specific details of the construction shown and described within the scope of the appended claims without departing from or exceeding the spirit of my invention.

In the ordinary manufacture of my invention I provide as a part of the units a mirror member comprising a frame Sand the reflecting glass portion 9. Thismirror is. of such size as to he interchangeably employed in connection with, the sections of the unit according to the particular arrangement desired. Its width is such that it will just fill in the space between the fronts of the two halves of the unit when the same is straight along the wall, will serve to cover the ends of the doubled unit when it is disposed in partition arrangement as shown in Figure V, will serve as the back for the dressing room when the sections are separated as shown in Figure VI, or can be used across the joint and angle of the two diagonal ends as shown in Figure IV.

To facilitate the interchangeability of these parts each of the sections is formed on the top'with the sockets 10 adapted to selectively receive the securing device 11 carried at each corner of the mirror. Also the base portions are provided at the outer front corners with the slides 12 having the sockets or apertures 13 to receive the lugs 14: on the supporting slides 15 carried on the bottom of the mirror frame. The positions of the slides 12 are such} that they diagonally from the corners of the sections when extended in position that the lugs 14 may properly interlock there with whether the mirror is in the location shown in Figures V and VIII or as a connecting piece between the front corners of two spaced sect-ions of adjacent units. To increase the desirability of improvement, I preferably provide suitable attachmentsor accessories, such as the supplemental top sections 26, while the sections themselves may be equipped on the front in any desiredmanner, either with doors "27 as shown inv Figure l, with curtains 28 or the like, while various interior fittings includingshelves 29 or slide hangers 30 may be-made'use of.

I claim:

1. A furniture unit comprising a pair of sections each having one square and one diagonally disposed. end, means hingedly connecting the diagonally disposed ends for relative pivotal movement of "the sections, and si'lpplemental fastening devices for selectively securing in position the sections when folded or a supplemental section when in open relation.

2. A universally adaptable furniture unit comprising a pair of similar oppositely disposed hinged sections having their adjacent ends iagonally divergent, and a mirror section for use in conjunction therewith of width to close the space between the terminations of the divergent ends when the s ctions are in open relation and to overlie their ends when in folded relation.

33. device of the character described comprising a pair of cabinet units hinged together at the back and having their adjacent ends diagonally divergent with respect to each other, the attachment of the hinge and sections being such that the same may be brought into right angle relation, in aline ment, or parallel back to back as desired, each of said sections being provided with a plurality of fastener engaging portions whereby the same may be selectively employed to lock the sections in desired relative position.

In an adaptable cabinet, the combination with a pair of hinged sections each having a plurality of top sockets and adjust able lower supports, of a supplemental panel member having projecting hooks for selective engagement in the sockets and adjustable slides for selective engagement with the lower supports.

7. A. store furniture unit, comprising a air of sections hinged at the back and havng their adjacent ends forwardly diverging, said sections being foldable upon each other, the separation of the front edges of the diverging ends when in open position being equal to their combined thickness when folded, and a panel of width equal to said combined thickness, and selectively interengagcable means for securing the panel to the sections in their varied relationships.

8. i'i store furniture unit, comprising apair of cabinet sections, each of said sections having upper sockets and being provided on the under side with a sliding support member and a pivoted supporting lever, and a panel section having upper socket engaging members and bottom slides having portions for selective engagement with the sliding support member and additional portions for interlocking engagement With levers.
