Be it knownthat I, JosnPH citizen of the United States, residing at Davenport, in the county of Scott and State of Iowa, have invented a new. and useful Derrick Machine, of which the following is aspecification.

At the top end of the diamond groove 2 is 'a hole 2 in sleeve 2 through which is inserted the bifurcated pivot bolt 13 of the deflector 12 shown as Fig. 13.
Deflector 12 is an oblong bar having a spear head point 12 at its lower end, and in its middle, hole means not shown for attachin a bifurcated pivot bolt 13 by pin means 13 thereto, and above its middle an outwardly flanged offset 12 and at its top end an inwardly directed flange extension 12 intended, to perform the oflice of a look when operating in slots 9" of the stop collar 9.
The deflector 12 is also formed with its respective ends above and below pivot bolt connection 13, outwardly bent, for the purpose of giving the same ratchet working room when the same operates with its connections, for the purpose of allowing flange extension 12 to have an inward and outward motion when operating in and out of slot 9 in the operation of themachine.
When the deflector 12 is attached by the bifurcated pivot bolt 13 means upon sleeve 2, the spear head 12 fits loosely but conformably within the lower half of diamond groove 2 the shank of deflector 12, operating pendulum like within the upper half of diamond groove 2 as the deflector is moved from side to side to admit the upward turning movement of jib crane 1, as the sameis drawn upwardby cable 8, and in such action the nose 15 of release trigger 15 running in groove 2" on coming in contact with spear head 12 is deflected into lateral groove 2 and thereby jib crane a, as the same is drawn upward by cable 8, is caused to turn to the right or left upon sleeve 2 as the operator, by the setting of stop collar 9, for operating has determined.
The spear head 12 of deflector 12 is provided with a blunt point sothat jib crane at, in being elevated by cable 8 in passing up groove 2 nose 15 of trigger 15, engages the blunt point of spear head 12 thereby simultaneously carrying sleeve 2 and jib crane e upward upon mast 1, until the flanged extension 12 of deflector 12 is en gaged by the slot 9 of stop collar 9 thereby causing the top end of deflector 12 to be pressed outward and the spear head 12 to be pressed inwardly against the inner part of diamond groove 2 and the deflector 12 to turn upon pivot bolt 13 deflecting spear head 12 to one side and allowing jib crane 4.- to pass upward over the head 12 of deflector 12 and nose 15 of release trigger 15 to pass up groove 2 until nose 15 of release trigger 15 engages in oblong slot 2 provided in the wallof sleeve 2 at the termination of groove 2, when the said release trigger 15 rotates upon pin not shown inserted in hole 4 of jib crane 4, thereby releasing carrying arm which previously thereto had been held in rigid position by minor lug of trigger 15, thus allowing the outward end of carrying arm 10 to'fall and release its load. As jib crane 4t in-its upward movement passes over pivot bolt 13 it presses the upper portion of deflector 1.2 inwardly, causing flanged extension 12 to engage stop collar 9, thereby locking sleeve 2 upon stop collar 9, and simultaneously the bottom. portion of deflector 12 is by this action forced outward.
In construction the inward end 10 of carrying arm 10 is made heavier than its opposite end, so that on the load being released by gravityby the release of trigger 15, the carrying arm falls back into position falling upon 15 of trigger 15, approximately as shown in Fig. 6, whereupon by slacking cable 8, the jib crane 4 moves by gravity downward by which movement the nose 15 of trigger 15 engaged in slot 2 by contact with the bottom edge of slot 2?, causes trigger 15 to revolve, th'ereby causing minor lugfi15 to lock carrying arm 10, in its rigid position. In the further passage of jib crane. 4 by gravity downward, it presses upon the lower of deflector 12 thereby by gravity forcing the upper portion of deflector 12 outward, forcing deflector 12, outward until thesame releases its hold upon stop collar 9 and the sleeve 2 by gravity slides downward upon mast 1, carrying jib crane 4- with it, when the machine is in position for reloading.
Jib 3 is provided with a hood portion 3* in which is mounted a wide grooved pulley 14: upon axle 3, the wheel-14; being for the purpose of facilitating the movement of cable 8, by which the mechanism is raised and lowered, and hood 3 is for the purpose of retaining the cable 8 upon pulley 14 in operation.

In a derrick a mast having a jib top provided with hood and pulley means; a linearly grooved side; a shoe means attached to the bottom end of the mast; movable sleeve means mounted on a mast, means for preventing the said sleeve from revolving on said mast; jib crane means having a bifurcated end and a ring collar, a carrying arm, a trigger and a carrying lug, the whole mounted on said sleeve; means for hoisting a jib crane upon a mast; means for rotating a jib crane upon a mast; means for holding a jib crane in hoisted position upon a mast, other means for releasing a jib crane and sleeve when secured at the top of a jib thereby permitting them to drop; de-
flector means provided upon the sleeve of a derrick for directing the turning of a jib' crane upon a sleeve attachment of a derrick; trigger means in connection with a carrying arm provided in a jib crane for holding and releasing a carrying arm when operating a jib crane, a stop collar having grooves and a boss provided upon a mast for the purpose of controlling the opera tions of a jib crane; a deflector having a' pivot'bolt; a spear headed end, a flanged end hole means in its center for attachment of pivot bolt means, each end of the deflector outwardly bent from its center, one of said ends having an outwardly right-angularly bent offset, said end also having a right-angularly inwardly bent flange, a pivot bolt having a perforated,'bifurcated end for attachment to a deflector its other end having an enlarged round head, suited for insertion in the linear groove of a'mast; a sleeve member mounted on a mast, the
