R. H. CAZIEB.
I CulinaryApparatus.
No 141,114, PatentedJuly22,1873.
UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFICE.
REUBEN H. CAZIER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN CULINARY APPARATUS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 141,114.,dated July 22, 1873; application filed March 5, 1873.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, REUBEN H. UAZIER, of the city and county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented an Improved Culinary Apparatus, of which the following is a specification:
The invention consists of a cylindrical chamber open at both ends, upon inwardly-projecting lugs of which is supported a cooking dish or pan, in such manner thata draft-flue separates them. An open ring or cover of the cylinder covers the flue and partially covers the pan.
Figure 1 is a view, showing the apparatus ready for use. Fig. 2 shows the same open. Fig. 3 is a sectional view. Fig. 4 shows the apparatus constructed for diverting the vapor arising from the culinary dish without passing over the top of the same.
A is short cylinder or case open at both ends. B is a culinary pan, which is contained within the cylinder A, resting on the lugs or projections a, Fig. 3. The difference between the diameters of the two vessels is such that a circular flue, b, intervenes. The top of the pan is slightly below the containing-cylinder A. G is an open lid or ring, which is hinged to the cylinder A. When shut it closes the flue b and partially closes the pan B.
When, in use, the apparatus is set over the opening of a stove the heat of the fire causes a current of air to pass from the room in which the stove is set, through the flue b and up the flue of the chimney of the building, carrying with it the steam or vapor arising from the culinary pan B.
Fig. 4 shows a slight deviation from the construction shown in Figs, 1, 2, 3. The draft passes through openings formed in the wall of the pan B.
I claim as my invention The case A, pan B, lugs a, and the open lid or ring G,substantially as and for the purpose shown and described. I
In testimony whereof I hereunto sign my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
REUBEN H. OAZIER.
