* UNITED STATES WILLIE C. HICKEY, OF POTEET, TEXAS.
, mow.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIE C. I'IICKJEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Poteet, in the county of Atascosa and State "of Texas, have invented new and useful Improvements in Plows, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in plows and has for an object the provision of a plow having a plurality of spaced beams' plow, means being provided for clamping the beams in position upon the axle to regulate the space between said beams, while additional means is provided for spacing the rear ends of the beams, to hold the latter in adjusted position.
Another object is the provision of a plow employing a plurality of plow beams, whose construction is of an exceedingly simple character, the result being a plow which may be manufactured at a low cost, or which may be easily repaired when necessary.
The invention further includes novel means for mounting the plow handles, the entire plow being so constructed that it may be readily taken apart for shipment and thereafter quickly and easily assembled.
With the'above and other objects in view, the invention further includes the following novel features and details of construction, to be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in the appended claim.
In the drawings 1 Figure 1 is a side elevation of a plow embodying the present invention.
Figure 2 is a plan view of the same.
Figure 3 is a central vertical sectional view. 7
Figure 4 is a rear view.
Figure 5 is a detail view of one of the plow beams.
Referring in detail to the drawings, wherein like characters of reference denote corresponding parts, the plow is shown as comprising an axle 10, which is supported upon wheels 11. Secured to the axle is a plurality of plow beams 13, the said beams being of Specification of Letters Patent. Patented 31 21, 1922,

plow blades or shovels 15, although culti-' vator teeth may be substituted for these shovels ifdesired. v
The rear ends of the beams are held. in proper spaced relation through the medium of a spacing bar 16, which is provided with spaced openings 17 for the reception of a hook bolt 18. This boltis adapted to be engaged beneath the lower edge of the beam and to pass through one of the spaced openings 17 for the reception of a nut, which when joined will hold the bar 16 and the beam properly associated. All of the beams are of similar construction, except the outer beams are preferably curved as shown so as to permit of a wider range of adjustment.
Secured to the plow are handles 19, the latter having their forward ends provided with openings for the reception of the adjusting screw 14: of the central beam, so that this screw serves the double purpose of holding the central beam and the axle and of securing the forward ends of the handles in place. Thehandles are braced by rods 20 which connect them with the spacing bar 16, while additional rods 21 serve to connect the said handles with the central beam 12.
In order to provide means for securing a draft animal to the plow, there is secured to the axle a pair of shafts 22.
It will be seen from the foregoing description and the accompanying drawings that the invention provides a plow of an exceedingly simple character, in which there is employed a plurality of plow beams, ca-
pable of relative adjustment. The construc- PATENT OFFICE.
a plurality of plow beams secured thei'eto," said beams each having a loop at their forward ends for engagement around the axle,
means whereby the loop may he adjustable 5 to adjust the relative positions of the plow beams, a spacing bar adjustably secured to the rear ends of the plow beams to hold the latter in position, handles having theif forward ends secured to the adjusting means of one of the loops and braces connecting the 10 handles With the spacing bar.
- In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
WILLIE C. HIGKEY.
