My invention has relation lto surface condensers and is Vdesigned to provide a construction and arrangement of the surface condenser and its circulating and condensate pumps Vsuch that the work of disassembling the pumpsfor inspection and repairs reatly facilitated. A f
eretofore, surfacev condensers have been made with a condenser shell, mounted directly over the pumps, in such a manner that the units have. been made very com-pact; vbut there has been great difficulty in disassembling the pump structures owing to the fact that many of the parts are inaccessible. The result has been that thelabor of demounting them in case they had to be inspected, or in case of trouble in their operation, has been such to 'impair the success of thel apparatus.
The nature of myinvention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings which will now be described,
it being premised, however, thatl various changes may be made in the detailsof construction, arrangement and combination of the parts, without departing fromthe spirit and scope of my invention as defined inthe appended claims.

In condenser apparatus, the combination of a condensate pump and a circulating pump, said pumps being placed side by side With longitudinally aligned shaft bearings and having their casings split in the same longitudinal vertical plane, a hollow member rigidly connecting the casings of thetwo pumps, and a shaft common to the two pumps and extending through the connecting member, substantially as described.v
