Be it known that I, O IVER P. GREEN- srnnnr a citizen of the United States, residin atQuapaw, in the county of Ottawa and i tate of Oklahoma, have invented certain new anduse-ful Improvements in lllashing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification, reference beingyhad to the accompanyingdrawings. v
This invention, relates tocertain improvements in washing apparatus, and it is an object of the invention to provide a novel and improved apparatus of this general character which is adapted to be placed substantially in submergence within a boiler or other container, and which includes a rotary drum or receptacle in which is positioned the clothingorother articles to be cleansed. ,c

The dirt or sediment released from the rticles during the washing; operation is collectedupon the'member M and retained by the flange 1 and it also happens that a considerable portion of such dirt and sediment is collected upon'the inner or under face of the member M and which is apparently due to the creation of the partial vacuum within the chamber C. This statement is made upon observations during actual practice, and at which time vit has been particularly noted that but little of the released dirt or sediment is maintained in suspension in'the washing fluid.

As the fluid under pressure rises upwardly through a'tube 2, the associated rotor 8 is caused to rotate, said rising fluid passing upwardly beyond the rotor 8 and being discharged through the openings 5.
Each of, the rotors 8 is fixed to a stub shaft 10 disposed through and rotatably supported by the side walls of the casing 7, and is fixed to an end wall orl head 11 of a receptacle or drum V This receptacle'or drum R'is of a type generally employed in connection with a washing apparatus, and is adapted tohave positioned therein the clothing or other articles to be cleansed. In operation, the fluid under pressure rising upwardly through the tubesresults in an intermittent rotation of the, receptacle or drum R with-the resultant tumbling of the articles therein, and whereby the washing or cleansing of such articles is materially facilitated.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a washing apparatus constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and opcrated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in'carrying out my invention in practice except-as hereinafter claimed.
I claim:
l. washing apparatus comprising a member adapted to be positioned in the lower portion of a receptacle, said member being of a cross sectional configuration to provide a chamber whenithe apparatus isapplied, upstanding tubes carried by the member and in communication with the chamber, a rotor interposed in each' of the tubes, "and a drum rotatably supported between thetubes and, in driven connection witheach of the rotors.
2. A washing apparatus comprising a member adapted to be positioned in the lower portion of a receptacle said memberjbeing of a cross sectional configuration to provide a. chamber therebelmv when applied, upstanding tubes carried by the member and in communication with the chamber, a tumbler drum positioned between and rotatably supported by the tubes, and meansfoperable from the pressure passing through the tubes for rotating the drum.
