Specification of Letters Yatent.

To all whom it may concern. I
Be it known that I, F RANK 1%.. NAUrs, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Toledo, in the county of Lucas and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Motor Vehicles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invention relates to toy vehicles designed to simulate an automobile or other motor vehicle and the invention consists in the construction of imitation control mechanism as hereinafter set forth.

The vehicle body to which my improvements are applied comprises sill members A, a seat B and hood C mounted on a suitable running gear (not shown). D is the imitationcontrol mechanism, which is preferably mounted on one of the sills A and is of the following construction:
E is a member, preferably a sheet metal stamping, forming a notched segment and provided with the inturned portions F and downturned portions G for securing to the sills by bolts or other fastening devices H, whereby the segment is held parallel to but spaced from the sill. I is a central downwardly projecting arm on the member E, to which is pivotally attached the control lever J by means of the rivet K and intermediate washer L. The rivet K is concentric with the notched segment E and the lever J is provided with a spring arm M for engaging the notches. This arm is preferably attached to the lever by means of an eye portion N at its upper end engaging a pin or rivet 0, while beneath this attachment is a second attachment P also riveted to the lever J and bent about the member M, as indi cated at Q. The two fastenings cooperate to hold the upper end of the member M in rigid relation to the lever J, while the lower end is free to flex and to snap from engagement with one notch into another when the lever is shifted. With the construction as described the lever J is in a position where it may be grasped bythe occupant of the seat- B and moved either forward or rearward. In doing so the member M will snap from engagement from one notch to another, making a sound similar to that of a ratchet brake lever or that produced by theshifting of gears.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. The combination with a toy vehicle, of an imitation control mechanism mounted thereon comprising a notched segment, a lever pivotally attached to said segment, and a resilient member secured to said lever forming a snap engagement with the notches of said segment and adapted to retain said lever in any adjusted position.
2. The combination with a toy vehicle, of an imitation control mechanism mounted thereon comprising a notched segment having a depending central arm, a lever pivoted to said depending arm at the center of said segment, a securing lug for attaching said segment to the vehicle, and a resilient member secured to said lever having a snap engagement with the notches of the segment and adapted to retain the said lever in any adjusted position.
3. The combination with a toy vehicle, of an imitation control mechanism mounted thereon comprising a notched segmental plate of sheet metal provided with the central depending arm and securing arms at the opposite ends thereof bent inward and downward, a lever pivotally attached to said depending central arm, and a resilient member secured to said lever havinga snap engagement with the notches of said segment and permitting of movement of the lever in either direction.
4. The combination with a toy vehicle, of an imitation control mechanism mounted thereon comprising a sheet metal stamping having a notched segmental portion, a central depending arm, inwardly and downwardly extending lugs at opposite ends thereof, a lever pivotally attached to said depending arm in the center of said segment, a resilientmember on said member having a snap engagement with the notches, and a strap secured to said member and extending on the outer side of said lever.

The combination with a toy vehicle having side sills, of an imitation control lever mounted on one of said side sills comprising a notched segment formed of sheet metal having a centrally depending arm and lugs at the ends bent inward and downward, said lugs being secured to the sill and holding the segment spaced therefrom, a lever pivoted to said centrally depending arm, a resilient member secured to said lever and having a snap engagement with the notches of said segment, and a strap secured to said segment and embracing the outer side of
