This invention relates to improvements in ash handlersythe' pr1m'ary'Ob ect being to remove'a'shes from below; the fire grat'es'of locomotives and boilersto one side of: the rail-5' way track or road bedior to a point'distant from the boiler in an expeditiolisand efficient manner, not requiring rehandling of ashes and cinders as heretofore'antlovercoming the" ma'ny 'obj'ect'ions' incident to dumping ashes inas'h pits. In operation one or both of the compartments are opened and their companion blast tubes operated to quickly and efiiciently expel ashes from the hopper. The entire device is simple in construction and effective in operation to remove ashes and cinders to either side of the road bed below the locomotive.
