UNITED S'rE'rEs PETER J. HANOUR, OF BUFFALO, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED WATER-COOLERS AND SHOW-CASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,777, dated July 15, 1873; application filed J une 19, 1873.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Beit known that I, PETER J HANOUR, of the city of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented a Come bined WatenCooler and Sample-Case 5 and I do hereby declare the following to be' a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawing making part of this specification, in which- Figure I represents a side elevation of my invention. Fig. Il is a plan view thereof.
The object of my inventionis to provide a case for containing and displaying samples of liquors, acids, perfumes, &c., combined with a water cooler or filter in such a manner as to render the entire apparatus ornamental, cheap, and convenient for use in those branches of trade for which it has been designed; and the invention consists, first, in the combination, with a revolving sample-case having concentric steps or shelves, of a'watercooler or filter; second, in the combination, with a revolving sample-case and a watercooler, of a drip-cup having a perforated cover, the said drip-cup forming the cover of the Watercooler or filter; third, in the combination, with a revolving sample-case having concentric steps or shelves and a water-cooler, of a cock or faucet arranged at or near the periphery of the revolving case; fourth, in the combination, with a revolving samplecase having concentric steps or shelves, a water cooler or filter, and a cock or faucet, of a dripcup or drawer having a perforated or grated surface over or above it, through which the drippings from the glasses and the cock or faucet pass into the drawer underneath, from which the accumulated water can be readily discharged.
Like letters of reference designate like parts in each of the figures.
A is a water cooler and filter, lof which A is the cover in the form of a dripcup, having a perforated cover, a', upon which sampleglasses or other articles may be deposited. B is a stand, having a vertical shaft or standard, b, upon which the water-cooler and its attachments are supported and revolve, the cooler resting upon the vertical standard b on a suitable stepbearing, c. C is the revolving sample-case. It is composed of a series of concentric steps or shelves, D, arranged one above the other, each succeeding one above being of a less diameter than the one below, and each being surrounded by a small ornamental railing, thus forming a beautiful revolving conical series of shelves upon which to display bottles containing samples of liquors, perfumes, &c. The top of the watercooler, which extends sufficiently above the upper shelf, forms a convenient receptacle for sample-glasses, they resting upon the perforated cover a of the drip-cup A.
A vase, E, or other ornamental device forms a handle to the cover ofthe water-cooler, and at the same time imparts a highly-ornamental and finished appearance to the conical form of the case.
The cock or faucet F, through which water is drawn from the cooler, is extended to near the periphery of the lower shelf of the sample-case, when the railing is discontinued for a short space and a grating, f, is provided upon which glasses are placed and through which the drippings from the cock or faucet pass into a drip-drawer, G, arranged below, from which any accumulated water is readily discharged.
` The advantages derived from the use of my invention are, first, the arrangement of a large number of bottles containing samples so that each one and all of them are easily accessible;
second, having a watercooler in the most convenient place, connected with the samples, so as to be readily and easily got at 5 third, it affords an attractive and decorative ornament for a counter or show-window or sampleroom.
I claiml. The combination, with the revolving sample-case C, having concentric steps or shelves D, of a water cooler or filter, A,lsubstantially as shown and described.
' 2. The combination, with a revolving sample-case, G, and a water-cooler, of a dripcup, A', having a perforated cover, fa', the said drip-cup forming the cover of the water-cooler, substantially as shown and described.
3. The combination, with a revolving sample-case, O, having concentric steps or shelves D and a water-cooler, A, of a cock or faucet,
2 Moyne F, arranged at or near the periphery of the it, substantially as and for the purpose set lower shelf, as and for the purpose described. forth.
4. In combination Wit-l1 a revolving sample- P. J. HAN() Ult. case, C, having concentric steps or shelves D, u Water cooler and filter, A, and a cock or Witnesses: faucet, F, of a drip cup or drawer, G, having VICTOR H. BECKER, a perforated or grated surfaoe,f, over or above J AMEs SANGsTER.
