IMPROVEMENT lN SCAFFOLDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,688, dated July 8, 1873; application vfiled April 14, 1873.
To all Iwhom it may concern:
Be it known that I, M. D. DRAKE, of Trenton, Todd county, Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scaffolds, of which the followingis a specification:
The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in scaolds; and it consists in the arrangement and combination of parts which will be more fully described hereafter.
Figure lis a side elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is an end View of the same. Fig. 3 is an end view of the scaffold extended upward, and having small platforms secured to its side, so that several persons can work at once. Fig. 4 are views of the vhin ge for securing the legs to the topbeams. Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the scaffold.
A A represent the top beams, made extensible, and supported upon the extensible legs B1, and braced by the extensible braces C1, the legs being connected together by the extensible braces C2. Secured upon thc top of the beams A', by any suitable devices, are the extensible arms D, upon which the platforms are built, and which have their outer ends supthe house, and then smaller platforms may be secured to them at different heights, so that a number of men can work at once at different points.
Having thus described my invention, what claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

tensible supports and braces C1 B2, substantially as shown and described.
