IMPROVEMENT IN COMPOUNDS FOR PREVENTING INCRUSTATION IN'STEAM-BOILERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 140,589, dated July 8, 1873; application filed October 10, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Tnnonon E. PETER- SEN, residing at Copenhagen, in the Kingdom of Denmark, have invented a certain Oompound for the Prevention of Boiler Incrustations, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of this invention consists in mixing beef-tallow, double carbonic natron,
rye-flour, and liquid water-glass to the con- In this state the compound is applied to the interior surface of the boiler. On heating the boiler the compound is decomposed more or less, and prevents the formation of incrustations.
To prepare the compound, take of beef-tallow four pounds; double carbonic natron, six pounds; rye-flour, three pounds; liquid waterglass, twelve pounds.
The above ingredients having been thor- I oughly mixed and kneaded, the compound is ready to be applied in the manner stated.
Instead of beef-tallow other kinds of tallow or fat may be used, and in lieu of the natron any equivalent substance may be substituted.
The proportions above given may be somewhat varied; but actual tests of the compound prepared as above have demonstrated its efficiency.
The compound may also be applied in other Ways than as set forth; but I prefer to use it in the manner specified.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- 1 A compound for the prevention of boiler inorustations, composed of beef or other tallow or fat, double carbonic natron, or its equivalent, rye-flour, and Water-glass, mixed substantially in the proportions and the manner specified.
