DISPENSING FAUCET.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE WINTHROP COOKE, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Jamaica, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dispensing Faucets, of which the following 1s a specification.
This invention relates to a dispensing faucet, and, as set forth herein, is disclosed more particularly in connection with a faucet for dispensing oiland other similar liquids.
Prominent objects of the invention are the copious flow, simplicity of operation, actuation of the off and on movement of the handle, also avoidance of objectionable leakage, high efiiciency, simplification .and durability of the construction generally.
With the above and other purposes in view the invention comprehends a novel ar-v rangement of faucet or valve and cork or other flexible lining in communication with a rotary sleeve together with a means for regulating the off and on movement of the sleeve and means of suspending the aforesaid faucet to the inside of a bung. v
As previously intimated, the improvement involves other important features which in addition to those alluded to areclearly explained in the subsequent detailed description.
The invention is shown and will be described as adapted for service in connection with an oil barrel for dispensing lubricating oils, but it is understood that the improvements are not restricted to such use.

Referring more particularly to Fig. 2, the bore or passageway 1 and spout 2 are of uniform diameter. This is made possible by enlarging the rotary valve chamber 3, for the admission of the cork or other flexible lining 4, the bore of the rotary valve 5 being of thesame diameter as the passageway 1. The cork or other flexible lining is cut away to register with the spout 2, as shown in Fig.

3, and the rotary valve cylinder 5 is cut away so as to register with the spout 2 when,
fully open, as in Fig. 3 in the open position of the valve.
The cork or other flexible lining is con-' fined between the shoulder 6, formed by the enlargement of the casing and the shoulder 7, formed on the valve cylinder 5.
I do not confine myself as to the means that may be employed to prevent the flexible lin- 111g 4 from turning out of register when the valve cylinder is turned either to the off or on position.
Aninwardly projecting pin 8 in the casing enters av slot 9 in the valve cylinder and 10 arrests the turning movement of the latter I in a fully open or fully closed position. Said pin also prevents the withdrawal of the valve cylinder when the pressure of the the under face of the bung 12, the screw end 13 of the faucet fits over the lug and they are bored to receive a cotter pin 14, as shown in Figs. 1 and 4. The lug 11 is made sufli ciently long and snug fitting, thus eliminat-' ing lateral strains due to rou h handling in transportation. What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
A faucet comprising a body having a cylindrical bore ofuniform diameter extendin from one end of the bod and a cylindrlcal chamber at the opposite end of the body of greater diameter than the bore axially alined with such bore and com-r municating with the latter and having a wall forming a shoulder connecting the cylindrical wall with the wall of the bore, a spout extending laterally from the chamber and having a diameter equal to the diameter of the cylindrical bore, a valve member fitting in the chamber, having one end abutting the shoulder and provided with two circumferences one of which turns in engagement with the wall of the chamber near the outer end of the latter,. and the other of which is smaller than the bearing portion and connects with the bearing portion through a shoulder, the smaller portion being provided with a lateral spout of a diameter equal to the bore and the alined spout and adapted to be alined with the spout, the
valve member having a chamber axially alined with the bore and having a diameter equal to the diameter of the bore, and a packing surrounding the smaller circumference of the valve shoulder on the latter-and also the shoulder between the enlarged chamber of the body and the cylindrical bore, said packing turning with the valve member and having an opening coincident with valve member.
